The 5th constituency of the Loiret (French: ''Cinquième circonscription du Loiret'') is a French legislative constituency in the Loiret ''département''. Like the other 576 French constituencies, it elects one MP using a two round electoral system. Description The 5th Constituency of the Loiret lies in the north of the department covering a largely rural area on the border with Île-de-France making it within easy reach of Paris. This seat traditionally supported candidates from the conservative centre right parties. In 2017 the seat was held by The Republicans by the slender margin of 88 votes in the second round against En Marche!. Marianne Dubois
Marianne Dubois (born 17 December 1957) is a French Republican politician who has represented Loiret's 5th constituency in the National Assembly from 2009 to 2022. Political career In parliament, Dubois served on the Defence Committee. In this capacity, she was the parliament's co-rapporteur (alongside Émilie Guerel) on the introduction of the General National Service (SNU) in 2018. In addition to her committee assignments, she was a member of the French-Bolivian Parliamentary Friendship Group. Dubois did not stand down at the 2022 French legislative election. Saint-Calais () is a commune in the Sarthe department in the region of Pays de la Loire in north-western France. Prior to the French Revolution it was known for its Benedictine abbey named after the Anisola stream (modern Aniole, a tributary of the Braye). Saint-Calais is a later name coming from one of the local saints of the Perche area. William of St. Calais, a product of this monastery, was a post-conquest bishop of Durham. There are no remains of the Abbey, which was a principal land-owner in the vicinity. The existing parish church has a fine Renaissance facade. Renaissance (RE), previously known as La République En Marche !
