Anthony Babington
Anthony Babington (24 October 156120 September 1586) was an English gentleman convicted of plotting the assassination of Elizabeth I of England and conspiring with the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots, for which he was hanged, drawn and quartered. The "Babington Plot" and Mary's involvement in it were the basis of the treason charges against her which led to her execution. He was a member of the Babington family. Anthony Babington (Nottingham MP)
Sir Anthony Babington (1476 – 23 August 1536), was an English politician. He was the 1st son of Thomas Babington of Dethick by Edith Fitzherbert, daughter of Ralph Fitzherbert of Norbury, Derbyshire. He was educated at the Inner Temple and was appointed Recorder of Nottingham in 1525. He was a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Nottingham in 1529 and 1536. He was High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the Royal Forests from 1533 to 1534. He was responsible for the addition of the tower of St John the Baptist's Church, Dethick between 1530 and 1532. Marriages and children He married twice. Firstly on 20 March 1498, to Elizabeth Ormond (d. 1505), daughter of John Ormond of Alfreton, Derbyshire and Joan Charworth / Chaworth. Sir Anthony Brutus Babington (24 November 1877 – 10 April 1972) was an Anglo-Irish barrister, judge and politician. Early life Babington was born in 1877 to Hume Babington JP (son of The Rev. Hume Babington), a landowner of 1,540 acres,''Burke's Landed Gentry of Ireland'', 1958, 4th Edition by L. G. Pine, Burke's Peerage: 'Babington of Creevagh', p. 42 and Hester ( Watt; sister of Andrew Alexander Watt) at Creevagh House, County Londonderry. He was educated at Glenalmond School, Perthshire and Trinity College, Dublin, where he won the Gold Medal for Oratory of the College Historical Society in 1899. Babington was born into the Anglo-Irish Babington family that arrived in Ireland in 1610 when Brutus Babington was appointed Bishop of Derry. Anthony Patrick Babington (4 April 1920, in County Cork – 10 May 2004, in London) was a British author, judge and Army officer. Early life Babington was born in County Cork in 1920 to Oscar John Gilmore Babington (1879–1930), also an Army officer, and his wife Annie Honor Wrixon (1878–1975). Among his cousins were Sir Anthony Babington and Robert Babington, a recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross.''
