Anne Kirk
Anne Kirk (born 6 April 1951) is a Scottish former professional darts player. She was nicknamed "Captain Kirk". Career Kirk won the 2001 Women's World Masters, beating American Marilyn Popp in the final. She then reached the semi final of the 2002 Women's World Darts Trophy, beating Trina Gulliver in the quarter finals before losing to Crissy Manley. Kirk made her World Championship debut in 2003, and defeated Gaynor Williams and Francis Hoenselaar to reach the final where she was defeated by reigning champion Gulliver who made it a hat-trick of wins. She then lost in the quarter finals in 2004 to Karin Krappen and in 2005 to Gulliver. Kirk qualified for the 2009 Women's World Championship and faced Krappen in the quarter finals, losing 1–2. Star Trekkin'
"Star Trekkin' " is a song by British novelty band the Firm. It parodies the first television series of ''Star Trek'', and prominently features comical voice caricatures of the original ''Trek'' characters, provided by members of the band, a studio technician, and the wife of one of the songwriters. One of the song's phrases, "It's life, Jim, but not as we know it", originated with "Star Trekkin, but has been subsequently misattributed to the TV series. "Star Trekkin'" was released as a single in May 1987. The song's promotional video was created by a team of art students called The Film Garage, featuring a combination of puppetry, stop motion animation and computer-generated imagery. The Firm (novelty Band)
The Firm was a British music act, formed by guitarist, session musician and music producer John O'Connor, which had hits in the 1980s with novelty songs. "Arthur Daley E's Alright" John O'Connor, primarily an acoustic guitarist, ran his own recording studio (Bark Studios in Walthamstow, London) specialising in songwriters' demos, for some ten years. In the early 1980s, he decided to concentrate more on playing and writing music, working as a session musician with artists in a variety of genres, from Maddy Prior and Isla St Clair to the more commercial pop of Bucks Fizz. In 1982, he and fellow guitarist Grahame Lister wrote a novelty song, "Arthur Daley 'E's Alright", based on the Arthur Daley character from the British TV series ''Minder'', and including many catchphrases from the show. Trina Gulliver
Catrina Elizabeth Gulliver (born 30 November 1969) is an English professional darts player. She is the 10-time Women's World Professional Darts Champion of the British Darts Organisation (BDO). Her nickname is Golden Girl and in 2003, she was named as the BBC Midlands Sports Personality of the Year. Early life The daughter of publicans, Gulliver was born in Warneford Hospital in Leamington Spa, and was brought up in the small town of Southam in Warwickshire. She trained as a carpenter and joiner, and later taught carpentry and joinery at Mid-Warwickshire College, Leamington Spa. Francis Hoenselaar
Francisca ("Francis") Hoenselaar (born 15 January 1965 in Rotterdam, South Holland) is a retired Dutch professional darts player from the Netherlands. She was nicknamed ''The Dutch Crown''. A leading player in the women's game, Hoenselaar was the 2009 British Darts Organisation Women's World Darts Champion, having defeated Trina Gulliver in the final. Prior to this, she had been runner-up no fewer than five times - each time losing to Gulliver. Achievements A Netherlands native, Hoenselaar has won the Dutch title fifteen times. Karin Krappen
Karin Krappen (born 10 December 1973) is a former Dutch darts player. She is a former winner of the Women's World Darts Trophy and the Women's World Masters. She was nicknamed Dolphin. Career Krappen made her World Championship debut in 2003, losing in the quarter finals to Francis Hoenselaar. She went one step further in 2004, beating Anne Kirk in the quarter finals but lost in the semis to Trina Gulliver. She then suffered quarter final exits the next three years, losing in 2005 again to Hoenselaar, 2006 to Jan Robbins and 2007 to Apylee Jones. She reached the semi finals in 2008, defeating Rilana Erades in the quarter finals but lost to Gulliver once more.
