''Angélica'' is a 1952 Mexican crime melodrama film directed by Alfredo B. Crevenna and starring Irasema Dilián, Carlos Navarro and Ramón Gay. Amador p.91 It was shot at the Tepeyac Studios in Mexico City. The film's sets were designed by the art director Edward Fitzgerald. Synopsis An Italian woman flees from her homeland to Mexico where she ends up working in a shady cabaret and is drawn into the criminal milieu of its owner. One night she meets and falls in love with a pilot. Velia was the Roman name of an ancient city on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is located near the modern village of Novi Velia near Ascea in the Province of Salerno, Italy. It was founded by Greeks from Phocaea as Hyele () around 538–535 BC. Fanny Schiller Hernández (3 August 1901 – 26 September 1971) was a Mexican award-winning character actress and television star, who also acted in operettas and musicals, during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema.
