The Anglican Province of Kaduna is one of the 14 ecclesiastical provinces of the Church of Nigeria. The first archbishop was Josiah Idowu-Fearon, from 2002 to 2008. The current archbishop is Ali Buba Lamido, bishop of Wusasa, since 2017. It is the second-largest province in the Anglican Communion, as measured by baptised membership (not by attendance), after the Church of England. it gives its membership as "over 18 million", out of a total Nigerian population of 190 million. In church governance, a diocese or bishopric is the ecclesiastical district under the jurisdiction of a bishop. History In the later organization of the Roman Empire, the increasingly subdivided provinces were administratively associated in a larger unit, the diocese ( Latin ''dioecesis'', from the Greek term διοίκησις, meaning "administration"). Christianity was given legal status in 313 with the Edict of Milan. Churches began to organize themselves into dioceses based on the civil dioceses, not on the larger regional imperial districts.
