Andy Bell (Welsh Musician)
Andrew Piran Bell (born 11 August 1970) is a Welsh musician. He is one of two vocalists and guitarists of the rock band Ride (band), Ride, and is the bassist of Oasis (band), Oasis from 1999 until their breakup in 2009 and since their reunion in 2024. Bell was also a member of Hurricane No. 1, Hurricane #1 as well as Beady Eye, an offshoot of Oasis, until their breakup in 2014. With Ride, Bell helped pioneer shoegaze, an alternative rock subgenre which reached its peak popularity in the early 1990s. Bell also wrote one song or more on each of Oasis' final three albums. Career Ride Bell formed Ride (band), Ride with Mark Gardener (guitarist), whom he met at Cheney School in Oxford and Laurence Colbert (drummer) and Steve Queralt (bassist), whom he met doing Foundation Studies in Art and Design at Banbury in 1988. Andrew Ivan Bell (born 25 April 1964) is an English singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the synth-pop duo Erasure. The band achieved mainstream success (receiving a Brit Award for Best British Group) and are popular within the LGBT community, for whom he has become an icon. His solo career includes the studio albums '' Electric Blue'' (2005), '' Non-Stop'' (2010), ''iPop'' (2014), and ''Ten Crowns'' (2025). Early life Bell grew up in the Dogsthorpe area of Peterborough. ''Definitely Maybe'' is the debut studio album by the English rock band Oasis, released on 29 August 1994 by Creation Records. The album features Noel Gallagher on lead guitar, backing vocals and as chief songwriter, Liam Gallagher on lead vocals, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on rhythm guitar, Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan on bass guitar and Tony McCarroll on drums. ''Carnival of Light'' is the third studio album by British rock band Ride, released in June 1994 via Creation Records. The album is named after a lost song by the Beatles. The album showcased the band's shift from shoegazing to a more traditional, folk rock sound. It was well received by some critics, magazine Select calling it "another fantastic British album in the old tradition" and reached the UK Top 5. However, by the end of 1994 even the band members had become disillusioned, referring to it amongst themselves as "Carnival of Shite", although in a 2022 interview Andy Bell stated that he had "made peace with it. Robert James Smith (born 21 April 1959) is an English musician who is the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the Cure, a post-punk rock band formed in 1976. His guitar-playing style, singing voice, and fashion sense, often sporting a pale complexion, smeared red lipstick, black eye-liner, unkempt wiry black hair, and all-black clothes, were highly influential on the goth subculture that rose to prominence in the 1980s. ''Nowhere'' is the debut album by British shoegaze band Ride, released on 15 October 1990. It received mixed reception on its initial release, but has since been reappraised in retrospect as a notable shoegaze album. Background and production Prior to the release of ''Nowhere'', Ride had previously released three EPs, '' a self-titled EP'', ''Play'', and '' Fall''; subsequent reissues of the album have featured songs from these EPs, especially its 20th anniversary edition in 2011. ''Nowhere'' was recorded with and partially produced by Marc Waterman, who backed out of the sessions, resulting in Alan Moulder mixing the final album. The band members were between 18 and 20 during the recording of ''Nowhere''.
