Andromeda (radio Show)
''Andromeda'' is a Croatian radio show covering topics in astronomy, astrophysics, and astronautics. History The show was started by journalist Tanja Devčić and astronomer Ante Radonić, head of the planetarium at the Technical Museum in Zagreb. It has been broadcast since 1997 on the second program of Croatian Radio, every Tuesday from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Over the years, the show has hosted numerous scientists such as Charles Duke and Mike Vucelić who participated in the Apollo project, while the most frequent guest is astronomer Korado Korlević. At the end of August 2012, it was announced that the show was being canceled, or that the concept and the name itself were changing. However, the show continued to be recorded every week, at the Technical Museum in Zagreb. Technical Museum, Zagreb
The Nikola Tesla Technical Museum ( hr, Tehnički muzej Nikola Tesla) is a technology museum located in Zagreb, Croatia, which collects and showcases scientific and technical appliances used in the countryćs history. It exhibits numerous historic aircraft, cars, machinery and equipment. History The Technical Museum was founded in 1954, officially opening to the public on the 14 January 1963. on Savska street. The creator of the concept of this museum was Dr. , then a professor of at the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. In 2012, the museum had 125,000 visitors. In 2013, it had over 118,000 visitors, and was the most visited museum in Croatia. With 141,000 visitors in 2018, it was the 7th most visited museum in Croatia. Korado Korlević
Korado Korlević (born on 19 September 1958 in Poreč) is a Croatian teacher and prolific amateur astronomer, who ranks among the world's top 20 discoverers of minor planets. As of 2016, he is credited by the Minor Planet Center with the discovery of 1162 numbered minor planets he made at Višnjan Observatory during 1996–2001. In addition, he is credited with the co-discovery of another 132 minor planets. His discoveries include the slowly-rotating outer main-belt asteroid 10415 Mali Lošinj, and 10645 Brač, a member of the Eunomia family of asteroids. He has also discovered two comets, namely 183P/Korlević-Jurić and 203P/Korlević. Charles Duke
Charles Moss Duke Jr. (born October 3, 1935) is an American former astronaut, United States Air Force (USAF) officer and test pilot. As Lunar Module pilot of Apollo 16 in 1972, he became the tenth and youngest person to walk on the Moon, at age 36 years and 201 days. Duke remains the youngest person to walk on the Moon. A 1957 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, he joined the USAF. He completed advanced flight training on the F-86 Sabre at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia, where he was a distinguished graduate. After completion of this training, Duke served three years as a fighter pilot with the 526th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron at Ramstein Air Base in West Germany. After graduating from the Aerospace Research Pilot School in September 1965, he stayed on as an instructor teaching control systems and flying in the F-101 Voodoo, F-104 Starfighter, and T-33 Shooting Star. Ante Radonić
Ante Radonić (born May 2, 1951) is a Croatian astronomer and popularizer of astronomy, who writes for the weekly radio show '' Andromeda''. Background Radonić was born in Korčula, Croatia, where he finished primary school and high school. Between 1972 and 2017, he worked in the Technical Museum in Zagreb as a chairman of planetarium with astronautics. His major activity is popularization of astronomy and astronautics. He also has regular lectures in the planetarium for school groups and public lectures for citizens. Astronautics (or cosmonautics) is the theory and practice of travel beyond Earth's atmosphere into outer space. Spaceflight is one of its main applications and space science its overarching field. Astrophysics is a science that employs the methods and principles of physics and chemistry in the study of astronomical objects and phenomena.
