Andra (TV Series)
''Andra'' is an Australian children's television series based on the book of the same name, which was broadcast on the ABC Television. The series consists of eight episodes of 30 minute. It had such a small budget that in the background, in crowd scenes, the 'crowd' is actually made up of store clothing dummies. The sets, instead of containing items of furniture, or other articles, are large white blocks piled up on each other. The series targets a female audience but a similar Australian science fiction series, '' Alpha Scorpio'' was made a little earlier in the 1970s and aimed at a male audience. Louise Lawrence (author)
Elizabeth Holden (5 June 1943 – 6 December 2013), better known by her pen name Louise Lawrence, was an English science fiction author best known for her work published in the 1970s and 1980s. She has been classified as a writer for young adults. She died on 6 December 2013 of a heart attack in her home at Kiltimagh in Ireland, after suffering from heart problems a number of years earlier. Biography Born Elizabeth Rhoda Holden on 5 June 1943 in Leatherhead, Surrey, to bricklayer Fred Holden and cook Rhoda Edith (née Cowles), she and her younger sister Catherine attended Poplar Road Primary School, Leatherhead, between 1948 and 1954. Christopher Muir
Christopher Muir (1931 - 2022) was an Australian director and producer, notable for his work in TV in the 1950s and 1960s. In the 1980s he was head of ABC Television drama. Biography Most of his early childhood was spent in France, but he returned to Melbourne upon the outbreak of World War II. He joined the ABC in 1949 at the recommendation of his headmaster upon completing his schooling at Melbourne Grammar School. Initially working as a messenger boy, he soon became a general trainee, and by 1954 he was a radio announcer. In 1955 the ABC seconded him to Paris to study television. He returned to Melbourne for the inauguration of ABC television in 1956. The ensuing decade saw him become a pioneer of television drama and music productions, often screened live-to-air during prime time on the ABC. ABC Television is the general name for the national television services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). ''Alpha Scorpio'' was a short-lived Australian children's science fiction television series, written and produced by James Davern, and which aired on ABC Television in 1974. It starred Peter Hepworth and Kevin Wilson as two university students who begin to witness strange events while camping at Aireys Inlet in Victoria. The two soon discover that their friend Mirny ( Kurt Ludescher) is a member of a group of aliens who have recently landed from the 5th planet of Antares. The series lasted only six episodes. Jonathan Hardy
Jonathan Hardy (20 September 1940 – 30 July 2012) was a New Zealand-Australian film and television actor, writer and director. Early career Hardy was born in Wellington and began his training at the New Zealand Players' Drama School. He traveled to Britain, where he studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art and was a gold medal student. This brought interest from the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal National Theatre where he secured contracts. He returned to his home of New Zealand in a touring production of ''The Comedy of Errors'' with the Royal Shakespeare Company (1966) and remained to help expand the country's theatre industry.
