Andi Mappanyukki
Andi Mappanyukki, also spelt as Andi Mappanjukki, (1885 – 18 April 1967), was the 32nd and 34th King of Bone and an Indonesian rebel who fought against the Dutch from the 1920s to the 1930s. A National Hero of Indonesia, he was the father of Andi Abdullah Bau Massepe. Born the son of I Makkulau Daeng Serang Karaeng Lembangparang, Sultan of Gowa, his father appointed him Lieutenant of the Royal Army of Gowa in 1905 after a rebellion against the Dutch broke out. National Hero Of Indonesia
National Hero of Indonesia ( id, Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia) is the highest-level title awarded in Indonesia. It is posthumously given by the Government of Indonesia for actions which are deemed to be heroic, defined as "actual deeds which can be remembered and exemplified for all time by other citizens" or "extraordinary service furthering the interests of the state and people". Andi Abdullah Bau Massepe
Andi Abdullah Bau Massepe (19182 February 1947) was a Bugis-Indonesian nobleman who initiated attacks against Dutch forces during the National Revolution. He was the son of Andi Mappanyukki. On 9 November 2005, he was conferred the title of National Hero of Indonesia posthumously. Early life Andi Abdullah Bau Massepe was born in 1918. His father was rebel warrior Andi Mappanyukki. Massepe had one brother named Andi Pangerang Petta Rani. He started formal education from Schakel School in 1924 for one year. Afterward he continued his education in Hollands Inslander School (HIS) and finished his education in 1932. At a young age, Massepe was already ''Datu Suppa'' (ruler of Suppa) but also Alitta, Sidenreng, Rappang, and Sawito. He was the heir of Sultanate of Gowa and Bone state. The Sultanate of Gowa (sometimes written as ''Goa''; not to be confused with Goa in India) was one of the great kingdoms in the history of Indonesia and the most successful kingdom in the South Sulawesi region. People of this kingdom come from the Makassar tribe who lived in the south end and the west coast of southern Sulawesi. History Before the establishment of the kingdom, the region had been known as ''Makassar'' and its people as ''Suku Makassar'' ( tribe of Makassar). South Sulawesi Expeditions Of 1905
The South Sulawesi expeditions of 1905 ( nl, Zuid-Celebes Expeditie), which included the Third Bone War and the Gowa War (Makassar: ), were undertaken by the Royal Netherlands East Indies Army (KNIL) to force the states of south Sulawesi (Celebes) to sign the ''Korte Verklaring'' (Short Statement or Declaration), the standard agreement whereby a native Indonesian ruler agreed to accept Dutch sovereignty. According to certain Dutch historians, the expeditions were an "obligation", because the Dutch had responsibility for law and order. One Indonesian historian has argued that it was actually strategic: that south Sulawesi was the "key" to controlling the so-called Great East.
