Achille Eugène Finet
Achille Eugène Finet (1863, Argenteuil – 1913, París) was a French botanist best known for his study of orchids native to Japan and China. Within the family Orchidaceae, he was the binomial authority, taxonomic authority of the genera '' Arethusantha'', ''Hemihabenaria'', ''Monixus'' and ''Malaxis, Pseudoliparis'' as well as of numerous orchid species. With François Gagnepain, he circumscribed a number of plant species from the family Annonaceae. In 1925 Hu Xiansu named the orchid genus ''Neofinetia'' in his honor. Selected works * ''Orchidées nouvelles de la Chine'', 1897 - New orchids native to China. * ''Sur le genre Oreorchis Lindley'', 1897 - On the genus ''Oreorchis'' John Lindley, Lindl.. * ''Orchidées recueillies au Yunnan et au Laos'', 1898 - Orchids collected in Yunnan and Laos. * ''Les orchidées du Japon, principalement d'après les collections de l'herbier du Muséum d'histoire naturelle de Paris'', 1900 - Orchids of Japan, principally from herbarium col ...

Orchids Of Africa
Orchids are plants that belong to the family (biology), family Orchidaceae (), a diverse and widespread group of flowering plants with blooms that are often colourful and fragrant. Orchids are cosmopolitan distribution, cosmopolitan plants that are found in almost every habitat (ecology), habitat on Earth except glaciers. The world's species richness, richest diversity of orchid genera and species is in the tropics. Orchidaceae is one of the two largest families of flowering plants, the other being the Asteraceae. It contains about 28,000 currently accepted species in 702 genera. The Orchidaceae family encompasses about 6–11% of all species of seed plants. The largest genera are ''Bulbophyllum'' (2,000 species), ''Epidendrum'' (1,500 species), ''Dendrobium'' (1,400 species) and ''Pleurothallis'' (1,000 species). It also includes ''Vanilla (genus), Vanilla'' (the genus of the Vanilla planifolia, vanilla plant), the type genus ''Orchis'', and many commonly cultivated plants s ...

Angraecinae
Angraecinae is a subtribe in the family Orchidaceae. The subtribe consists of approximately 47 genera.Chase, M. W., Cameron, K. M., Freudenstein, J. V., Pridgeon, A. M., Salazar, G., Van den Berg, C., & Schuiteman, A. (2015)"An updated classification of Orchidaceae."Botanical journal of the Linnean Society, 177(2), 151-174. The type genus is ''Angraecum''. Most of the genera are endemic to Africa, Madagascar and other Indian Ocean Islands, a few genera can also be found in the Americas. Taxonomy Recent scholarship has led to proposed reorganization of this subtribe. The proposed change would have '' Campylocentrum'' and all leafless Neotropical genera transferred to a new subtribe under tribe Vandeae to be called Campylocentrinae. That would leave only the Palaeotropical genera in the ''Angraecum'' alliance within this subtribe. There is, however, not sufficient scientific agreement to justify moving the "Campylocentrinae" at this time. Angraecum Alliance *'' Aeranthes'' L ...

List Of Orchidaceae Genera
This is a list of genera in the orchid family (Orchidaceae), originally according tThe Families of Flowering Plants- L. Watson and M. J. Dallwitz. This list is adapted regularly with the changes published in the ''Orchid Research Newsletter'' which is published twice a year by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The most up to date list of accepted genera, natural nothogenera, species and natural nothospecies with their synonyms can be found on the World Checklist of Selected Plants FamilieSearch Pageand Plants of the World Online published by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. This list is reflected on Wikispecies Species:Orchidaceae, Orchidaceae and the new eMonocot websitOrchidaceae Juss. This Taxonomy (biology), taxonomy undergoes constant change, mainly through evidence from DNA study. Orchids were traditionally defined by morphological similarity (structure of their flowers and other parts). However, recent changes to nomenclature have been driven primarily by DNA studies and also by ...
