Anableps Microlepis
The finescaled four-eyed fish (''Anableps microlepis'') is a species of four-eyed fish found in coastal waters of the Atlantic Ocean from Trinidad and Tobago down to southeastern Brazil. They mostly inhabit brackish environments such as estuaries, mangrove swamps, and tidal mudflats. It grows to approximately 30 cm (12 in) in length. This fish mostly feeds on organic matter and small invertebrates. In Manzanilla, this fish was found to feed on sand crabs ('' Emerita portoricensis'') and small bivalves (''Donax denticulatus''). While looking for food, they travel up and down the coastline in large groups ranging from a dozen to more than a hundred fish. Like other members of '' Anableps'', this species has eyes that are split into two lobes, allowing it to see above and below water at the same time. Meerzorg
Meerzorg (Sranan Tongo: Ansu) is a town and resort (municipality) in Suriname, located on the eastern bank of the Suriname River, directly opposite the capital Paramaribo. Its population at the 2012 census was 12,405. Since 2000 it has been connected to Paramaribo by the Jules Wijdenbosch Bridge, named after the former President Jules Wijdenbosch. History Meerzorg is named after the sugar plantation Meerzorg. The plantation was founded at the end of the 17th century, and was originally called Plantage Amsinck. On 10 October 1712, Jacques Cassard captured the plantation for France, and threatened Paramaribo across the Suriname river. Emerita Portoricensis
The Puerto Rican sand crab, ''Emerita portoricensis'', is a species of "sand crab" belonging to the genus '' Emerita'', which is native to the main island of Puerto Rico and its archipelago. This species has also been found on beaches off the coast of Venezuela. The most detailed study conducted on the species was done by Miguel P. Sastre between 1988 and 1992. This investigation determined that the species has diotic traits and that there are size and survival differences between sexes. Both sexes reach sexual maturity three months after birth. Anablepidae is a family of fishes which live in brackish and freshwater habitats from southern Mexico to southern South America.
