Amiga
Amiga is a family of personal computers produced by Commodore International, Commodore from 1985 until the company's bankruptcy in 1994, with production by others afterward. The original model is one of a number of mid-1980s computers with 16-bit or 16/32-bit processors, 256 KB or more of RAM, mouse-based GUIs, and significantly improved graphics and audio compared to previous 8-bit systems. These include the Atari ST as well as the Macintosh 128K, Macintosh and Acorn Archimedes. The Amiga differs from its contemporaries through custom hardware to accelerate graphics and sound, including sprite (computer graphics), sprites, a blitter, and four channels of sample-based audio. It runs a pre-emptive multitasking operating system called AmigaOS, with a desktop environment called Workbench (AmigaOS), Workbench. Amiga, Inc
Amiga, Inc. was a company run by Bill McEwen that used to hold some trademarks and other assets associated with the Amiga personal computer. The company has its origins in South Dakota–based Amiga, Inc., a subsidiary of Gateway 2000, of which McEwen was its marketing chief. Gateway 2000 sold the Amiga properties to McEwen's company Amino Development on December 31, 1999, which he later renamed to Amiga, Inc. The company sold the Amiga properties to Mike Battilana on February 1, 2019, under a new entity called Amiga Corporation. Background In the early 1980s Jay Miner, along with other Atari, Inc. staffers, set up another chip-set project under a new company in Santa Clara, called Hi-Toro (later renamed to Amiga Corporation), where they could have some creative freedom. ''Amiga'' ( or ) is the third solo studio album by Chilean Latin alternative singer Álex Anwandter. It was released through Nacional Records on April 8, 2016. The album peaked at number eighteen on the United States ''Billboard'' Latin Pop Albums chart; his first entry on a national music chart. It won the Pulsar Award for Album of the Year. Background The lead single "Siempre Es Viernes En Mi Corazón" was released on January 27, 2016. Judy Cantor-Navas of ''Billboard'' called Anwandter's songs as being a combination of "a feeling of almost giddy abandon with sobering social themes." Coral Amiga is an English actress and screenwriter born in London. She is best known for her portrayal of Vorena the Elder, in the television series ''Rome''. After attending The American School in London, she went on to receive a bachelor's degree at New York University Tisch School of the Arts. The miniseries '' Southcliffe'', in which she played the role of Mattie, was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2014. In 2020 Amiga wrote and starred in a short horror thriller, ''MJ'', directed by Jamie Delaney which was screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival, the London Short Film Festival, and the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Amiga (record Label)
Amiga is a popular music record label in Germany. Once an organ of the East German state-owned music publisher VEB Deutsche Schallplatten, Amiga became a label of the Bertelsmann Music Group in 1994. In 1947, actor and singer Ernst Busch got permission from the Soviet Military Administration in Germany to create a music publishing house, which was named Lied der Zeit GmbH ("Song of the Times"). This publishing company included the label Amiga. The label continued issues its singles in the 10" 78 RPM format until 1960, and it began issuing singles in the 7" 45 RPM format in 1957. In the 1950s, Lied der Zeit became VEB Deutsche Schallplatten ("German Records"), a state-owned company with a monopoly on record production. The Amiga 1000, also known as the A1000, is the first personal computer released by Commodore International in the Amiga line. It combines the 16/32-bit Motorola 68000 CPU which was powerful by 1985 standards with one of the most advanced graphics and sound systems in its class. It runs a preemptive multitasking operating system that fits into of read-only memory and was shipped with 256 KB of RAM. The primary memory can be expanded internally with a manufacturer-supplied 256 KB module for a total of 512 KB of RAM. Escom (computer Company)
Escom AG (stylized in uppercase; previously Schmitt Computer Systems) was a German computer company, best known in Germany, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and the United States as the successful purchaser of Commodore International and the Amiga trademarks in 1995. Escom was founded by Manfred Schmitt of Darmstadt, West Germany as the computer division of his music company in 1986. It became a separate company in 1991. In 1993, it became a publicly traded company, and it grew rapidly, controlling 11.2% of the market of German PCs by 1994. AmigaOS
AmigaOS is a family of proprietary native operating systems of the Amiga and AmigaOne personal computers. It was developed first by Commodore International and introduced with the launch of the first Amiga, the Amiga 1000, in 1985.
