"Amerika" is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released on 6 September 2004 as the second single from their fourth studio album, ''Reise, Reise'' (2004). The song peaked at number 2 in Germany and entered the top 5 in Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland. Content The song deals with the worldwide cultural and political imperialism of the United States of America. The song's text and most video images point unambiguously toward a critique of America's cultural imperialism, political propaganda and self-assumed role as global police force. The two verses are sung in German with a chorus in Denglisch: ''We're all living in Amerika, Amerika ist wunderbar, We're all living in Amerika, Amerika, Amerika'' and ''We're all living in Amerika, Coca-Cola, sometimes war''. USS ''America'' (ID-3006) was a troop transport for the United States Navy during World War I. She was launched in 1905 as SS ''Amerika'' by Harland and Wolff in Belfast for the Hamburg America Line of Germany. As a passenger liner, she sailed primarily between Hamburg and New York. On 14 April 1912, ''Amerika'' transmitted a wireless message about icebergs near the same area where RMS ''Titanic'' struck one and sank less than three hours later. At the outset of the war, ''Amerika'' was docked at Boston; rather than risk seizure by the British Royal Navy, she remained in port for the next three years. Hours before the American entry into World War I, ''Amerika'' was seized and placed under control of the United States Shipping Board (USSB). ''Amerika'', also known as ''The Man Who Disappeared'', ''The Missing Person'' and as ''Lost in America'' (German: '), is the incomplete first novel by author Franz Kafka (1883–1924), written between 1911 and 1914 and published posthumously in 1927. The novel originally began as a short story titled "The Stoker". The novel incorporates many details of the experiences of his relatives who had emigrated to the United States. The commonly used title ''Amerika'' can be traced to the edition of the text put together by Max Brod, a close friend of Kafka's during the latter's lifetime, after Kafka's death in 1924. Amerika, Saxony
Amerika () is a former company settlement in the German state of Saxony and a district of the town of Penig. As a small village of 79 residents (2010), it is known merely for its name, the German word for America, which was given to it in the 19th century. In 1836, a spinning factory was built on the left bank of the river Zwickauer Mulde, but houses for workers and clerks were not built until 1870. Initially, because a bridge was only built much later, workers and visitors coming from the right bank of the river had to cross the water using stepping stones or boats to access the place. As "crossing the pond" in those times was chiefly understood as emigrating to America, the factory was named "Amerika" by the local population.
