Amboli, Mumbai
Amboli is in Andheri (West), Mumbai, Maharashtra. Earlier known as Ambolim, it is situated very close to Andheri railway station and Jogeshwari railway station. It also has a playground known as Joe and Helen Ground at its heart. History Amboli was primarily inhabited by Christians, East Indians and tribal people called Waarlis. There were a handful of houses in and around the village. Amboli was laden with green fields and numerous mango and coconut trees. The name Amboli also stemmed from the fact that there was a massive mango orchard in the neighbourhood. During the late 1980s and early '90s the area was also notorious for gang rivalries, especially the Amboli village. One of the most notable attractions of Amboli is the Church of St. Blaise . Maharashtra Legislative Assembly
The Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha or the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is the lower house of the legislature of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the Nariman Point area of South Mumbai in the capital Mumbai. Presently, 288 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from the single-seat constituencies. The members of the upper house, the Maharashtra Vidhan Parishad (the legislative council) are indirectly elected through an electoral college. Sessions The budget session and the monsoon session are convened in Mumbai whereas the winter session is convened in the auxiliary capital Nagpur. Janata Party
The Janata Party ( JP, lit. ''People's Party'') was a political party that was founded as an amalgam of Indian political parties opposed to the Emergency that was imposed between 1975 and 1977 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of the Indian National Congress. In the 1977 general election, the party defeated the Congress and Janata leader Morarji Desai became the first non-Congress prime minister in independent modern India's history. Raj Narain, a socialist leader, had filed a legal writ alleging electoral malpractice against Indira Gandhi in 1971. On 12 June 1975, Allahabad High Court found her guilty of using corrupt electoral practices in her 1971 election victory over Narain in the Rae Bareli constituency. She was barred from contesting any election for the next six years. Baldev Khosa is an Indian film actor turned politician from Maharashtra. He is a four term Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He lost his seat in the 2014 election. He is most remembered for his role as Sukha in Punjabi blockbuster movie Putt Jattan De (1983). Family background and film career Khosa originally hails from village Jhandeana in Moga district, Punjab.
