Amazonas () is a federative units of Brazil, state of Brazil, located in the North Region, Brazil, North Region in the north-western corner of the country. Amazonas (Colombian Department)
Amazonas () is a department of Southern Colombia. It is the largest department in area while having the third smallest population among the departments. Its capital is Leticia and its name comes from the Amazon River, which drains the department. It is made up entirely of Amazon Rainforest territory. The southern portion of the department, south of the Putumayo River, is called the "Amazonian Trapeze", which includes the triple border of Colombia, Peru and Brazil, and its southern limit is the Amazon River. Toponymy The department name comes from the name of the Amazon River. Amazonas State (, ) is one of States of Venezuela, the 23 states into which Venezuela is divided. It covers nearly a fifth of the area of Venezuela, but has less than 1% of Venezuela's population. Amazonas Futebol Clube, commonly referred to as Amazonas, is a Brazilian professional club based in Manaus, Amazonas founded on 23 May 2019. It competes in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, the second tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Amazonense, the top flight of the Amazonas state football league. The club was founded in 2019 by former members from the administrations of other Manaus clubs with the objective of organizing a competitive club and revitalize football in the state of Amazonas. Despite its recent founding, the club has been successful, winning a Campeonato Amazonense in 2023, and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C in the same year, the first national title by a club from the Amazonas state.
