Amanda Christina Elizabeth Aldridge, also known as Amanda Ira Aldridge (10 March 1866 – 9 March 1956), was a British opera singer and teacher who composed love songs, suites, sambas, and light orchestral pieces under the pseudonym of Montague Ring. Born into an artistic family, the Aldridge legacy included her father who was a successful African-American Shakespearian actor, Ira Frederick Aldridge. Amanda Austin
Amanda Petronella Austin (1859 – 1917) was an American painter and sculptor. Biography A native of Carrollton, Missouri, Austin studied from 1877 to 1879 at the University of Missouri, becoming a favored pupil of George Caleb Bingham, to whom she gave two of her paintings. In 1879 she moved to Sacramento, home of her great-uncle, Jefferson Wilcoxson; he was ill, and in return for her care he provided money for her to continue her training, which she did in the studio of Norton Bush. Her first exposure came at the 1880 California State Fair, where her drawings won praise from the critic of '' The Sacramento Bee''. The following year at the Fair, the showing of her ''Morning Glories'' brought her a measure of notoriety.
