Alun Armstrong (footballer)
Alun Armstrong (born 22 February 1975) is an English former professional footballer and the current manager of National League North club Darlington. During his playing career, Armstrong operated primarily as a forward. His career as a player, which ran between 1993 and 2007, included spells at Newcastle United, Stockport County, Middlesbrough, Ipswich Town, two spells at Darlington, Rushden & Diamonds and concluding it with a brief spell at Newcastle Blue Star. He has also enjoyed loan spells at Huddersfield Town, Bradford City and Doncaster Rovers. Armstrong entered into club management in 2016, joining Blyth Spartans, achieving promotion to the National League North in his first season in charge. He left the club in 2019, agreeing to join Darlington as their new manager. Playing career Armstrong's first club was Newcastle United, where in October 1993 he came up from their youth team. The Rhodesian cricket team represented originally the British colony of Southern Rhodesia and later the unilaterally independent state of Rhodesia. Rhodesia's inaugural first-class match commenced on 16 March 1905 against Transvaal at Old Wanderers in Johannesburg, South Africa and its first limited overs match on 13 December 1970, against Natal at Police B Ground, Salisbury, Rhodesia. In all, 242 cricketers represented Rhodesia in either first-class or List A cricket between 1905 and 1980, when the Rhodesian cricket team was renamed as the Zimbabwe-Rhodesia cricket team before adopting its current name Zimbabwe cricket team in 1981. When Rhodesia participated in South Africa's domestic competitions, Rhodesian players were eligible to play for South Africa.
