Alpine Elementary School (Alpine, Arizona)
The Alpine Elementary School is a compound consisting of four buildings in Alpine, Arizona, operated by the public Alpine Elementary School District. It serves grades K-8. The original school building of this complex was built in 1930, but a government-funded school had operated here since 1882. The current gym/auditorium was constructed in 1939 for use as a chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which had members in the community. Two more recent constructions consisting of modular buildings. These are not considered as contributing to the historical nature of the site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. History The schoolhouse was constructed as a two-room schoolhouse in 1930. It had been preceded by four earlier schoolhouses. Columbus City Schools
Columbus City Schools, formerly known as Columbus Public Schools, is the official school district for the city of Columbus, Ohio, and serves most of the city (portions of the city are served by suburban school districts). The district has 46,686 students enrolled, making it the largest school district in the state of Ohio as of June 2021. At its peak during the 1971 school year the district served 110,725 students. The first school built in the area which is now part of Columbus was a log cabin school-house built in Franklinton, in 1806. It wasn't until 1845 that the state of Ohio Legislature entrusted the management of Columbus schools to a Board of Education. Two years later the school board elected Dr. Asa Lord as the district's first superintendent. Dr. Gene T. Alpine Independent School District
The Alpine Independent School District is a school district based in Alpine, Texas, United States. The district operates one high school, Alpine High School. History Prior to 1996 Alpine High School served as the high school for students from Terlingua Common School District. Beginning in the 1960s, students were bussed to Alpine, with the bus ride being the longest in the United States. San Vicente Independent School District also sent its high school students to Alpine High. In 1996 Big Bend High School opened and the Terlingua area students no longer came to Alpine High. San Vicente ISD at that time began using Big Bend High. Finances As of the 2010-2011 school year, the appraised valuation of property in the district was $380,110,000. The maintenance tax rate was $0.117 and the bond tax rate was $0.009 per $100 of appraised valuation.
