Alphonzo Rawls
Alphonzo Rawls, also known as Alf, is a goofy-footed American professional skateboarder and footwear designer. Early life Rawls grew up skating at the Del Mar Skate Ranch. As a child, Rawls makes appearance in the background of the film Animal Chin, attending Del Mar the day the film shot at the skatepark. Rawls skating progressed when McGill's skatepark opened up, featuring ramps of all sizes up to vert. Skateboarding career After being courted but never signed by both Powell-Peralta and Dogtown, Rawl's first sponsor was H-Street. Rawls makes an additional cameo in the background of the H-Street video ''Shackle Me Not''. While Tony Magnusson is doing a fakie rock on the mini-ramp at McGill’s, Rawls is doing a 540 over the spine in the background. Rawls coined the term "big-spin", a trick invented by Brian Lotti. Animal Chin
Animal Chin was a ska punk group from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group was named after the 1987 skateboarding film, '' The Search for Animal Chin''. They released their debut LP, ''All the Kids Agree'', in 1997, and soon after signed to Fueled By Ramen, who pressed their EP ''The Ins & Outs of Terrorism!'' that same year. Indy Grab
An Indy grab, also known as an Indy air, is an aerial skateboarding, snowboarding and kitesurfing trick during which the rider grabs their back hand on the middle of their board, between their feet, on the side of the board where their toes are pointing, while turning backside. This trick is done only backside; the same maneuver done while turning front side, is called a front side air. The Indy grab is a generic skateboarding trick that has been performed since the late 1970s. This trick is performed mainly while vert skating, e.g. on halfpipes. Although this move can be done on flat land, it is much easier on a ramp. The Indy grab is one of the basic tricks in vert skating and is usually combined with spins, kickflips and heelflips. Stephen Salvadore Rocco (born January 16, 1960) is an American businessperson and skateboarder. He founded the skateboarding company World Industries with Rodney Mullen in 1987. He has since sold the company and is currently retired. Career Rocco is an important figure in the early popularity of street skateboarding in the 1990s. In skateboarding, grinds are tricks that involve the skateboarder sliding along a surface, making contact with the trucks of the skateboard. Grinds can be performed on any object narrow enough to fit between wheels and are performed on curbs, rails, the coping of a skate ramp, funboxes, ledges, and a variety of other surfaces. Kickflip
The kickflip is a skateboarding trick, in which the rider flips their skateboard 360° along the axis that extends from the nose to the tail of the deck. When the rider is regular footed the board spins counter-clockwise if viewed from the side. It was the first of many modern tricks to be invented by Rodney Mullen in the early 1980s, and it opened the door to contemporary concepts of board sports wherein the board and rider separate then re-join. In March 2011, Zoltan "The Magician" Torkos was credited to land the first kickflip on a surfboard. Powell Peralta
Powell Peralta is an American skateboard company founded by George Powell and Stacy Peralta in 1978. The company rose to prominence in the 1980s as skateboarding began maturing as a sport. The company featured the Bones Brigade, a team featuring the era's top competitors. Peralta left the company in 1991 and Powell continued to produce skateboard equipment as Powell, Bones Bearings and RollerBones. The two company founders reunited to produce the company's now classic inventory under the name Powell Classic. Tailslide
The tailslide is an aerobatic maneuver that starts from level flight with a 1/4 loop up into a straight vertical climb (at full power) until the aircraft loses momentum. When the aircraft's speed reaches zero and it stops climbing, the pilot maintains the aircraft in a stand-still position as long as possible (this is greatly helped by thrust vectoring on newer fighter aircraft), and as it starts to fall to the ground backward, tail first, the nose drops through the horizon to a vertical down position and the aircraft enters a dive. A 1/4 loop (push or pull) recovers to level flight. Tailslides will transiently reverse the airflow on many aircraft surfaces, giving abnormal forces compared with forward flight.
