Alpha TV is a Greece, Greek free-to-air channel, one of the biggest stations in Greece. The station features a mix of Greek and foreign shows with an emphasis on information. The studios are located in Kifissia and Pallini. Alpha TV is owned by Alpha Satellite Television S.A. In Cyprus, private broadcaster Sigma TV used to broadcast a number of Alpha's programs. In the past, public service broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation, CyBC used to broadcast Alpha TV programs. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. Sigma TV is a commercial network in Cyprus that began broadcasting on April 3 1995. It is a private service and is currently the channel in Cyprus with the best ratings. Sigma TV is geared at a younger audience, with a focus on 18-45 year olds. It broadcasts a mix of original programs as well as popular foreign programming. Sigma is a general entertainment station with programming that includes Children's shows, sports, news, movies, series and popular telenovelas from Latin America. Dimitris Kontominas (; 3 June 1939 – 10 March 2022) was a Greek businessman who was active in insurance, television, cinema, and retail trade.
