The Allegheny County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency that serves Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and is the largest sheriff's office in the state. The ACSO serves as a local arm of the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System in a number of roles, including: court security, writ services, sales, prisoner transportation, issuing of firearm licenses and execution of warrants. A primary responsibility of the office is fugitive apprehension. Allegheny County ( ) is a County (United States), county in Pennsylvania, United States. Eugene Coon
Eugene L. Coon (November 15, 1928 – October 15, 1998) was a long-time Sheriff of Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (serving Pittsburgh and its immediate suburbs) and an influential figure in the local Democratic Party. He served in the U.S. Army in 1947–1948 and in 1950 for the Korean War until 1952. Early life Coon graduated from Perry High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1947. He attended University of Pittsburgh, studying prelaw. Army service Coon served in the U.S. Army in 1947–1948, then re-enlisted in 1950 for the Korean War, where he was a combat infantryman in the 1st Cavalry Division, serving until 1952. Ad Gumbert
Addison Courtney Gumbert (October 10, 1867 – April 23, 1925) was a pitcher for Major League Baseball in the 19th century. His brother Billy Gumbert and great nephew Harry Gumbert were also Major League Baseball players. Early life Addison Gumbert was born on October 10, 1867, or 1868, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Robert and Henrietta Gumbert. At the 1880 United States census, Robert worked as a dispatcher, while Henrietta was unemployed, with her occupation listed as a "keephouse". The family lived on Frankstown Avenue in the 21st Ward of Pittsburgh. Post-baseball career After retiring from baseball, Gumbert had a career as a public official in Allegheny County and Pittsburgh.
