Vancouver Whitecaps FC is a Canadian soccer club in Vancouver, British Columbia. The club was moved up to Major League Soccer (MLS) after the ownership group of Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett, and Steve Nash were awarded a franchise to play in Vancouver. Whitecaps FC began playing competitive soccer in the 2011 season, joining the Western Conference of MLS. It plays its home games at BC Place. The current Whitecaps FC is the third soccer team from Vancouver to bear the ''Whitecaps'' name. The tradition was started by Vancouver's North American Soccer League team in 1974, and continued by the city's Canadian Soccer League and United Soccer Leagues side, formed in 1986. Vancouver Whitecaps (1986–2010)
The Vancouver Whitecaps were a Canadian professional association football, soccer club based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 1986, the team played its final year in the second tier of the United States soccer pyramid in the NASL Conference of the USSF Division 2 Professional League coached by Teitur Thordarson. The team played its home games at Swangard Stadium in nearby Burnaby, British Columbia. The team's colours were blue and white. On March 19, 2009, an ownership group led by principal Greg Kerfoot was granted a Major League Soccer expansion franchise which began play in 2011 under the name Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Pedro Morales (footballer)
Pedro Andrés Morales Flores (born 25 May 1985) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a midfielder. He began his professional career with Huachipato before moving to Universidad de Chile, and in 2007 was signed by Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia. After a loan back at Universidad de Chile and Spanish club Málaga, he spent a season with the latter before moving to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, where he served as a captain from 2014 until his departure. Morales first represented Chile in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, making his senior international debut later in 2008. Club career Chile Morales began his career with Huachipato in 2004, quickly developing into an important player for the club. The Canadian Championship () is an annual soccer tournament contested by Canadian professional teams. The winner is awarded the Voyageurs Cup and a berth in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Voyageurs Cup
The Voyageurs Cup () is the domestic trophy for professional soccer in Canada, awarded to the best men's and women's clubs in the country. The Cup was conceived and commissioned by fans of the Canada men's national team, the Voyageurs, in 2002. From 2002 to 2007, the cup was awarded annually to the Canadian team finishing with the best record in the USL First Division, from regular-season matches against other Canadian teams in the league. Camilo da Silva Sanvezzo (born 21 July 1988) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is a Mexican naturalized citizen. Club career Corinthians Alagoano Camilo began his career in the youth ranks of Oeste Paulista Esporte Clube. In 2009, he moved to Corinthians Alagoano and remained there one year before taking his career to Europe. Jordan Harvey (born January 28, 1984) is an American former professional soccer player, currently serving as Assistant Technical at Major League Soccer club Los Angeles FC, with whom he finished his career as a player. Career Youth and college Harvey started playing club soccer with Strikers FC. Upon high school graduation he played college soccer at the University of California, Los Angeles for four years from 2002 to 2005 where he appeared in 69 games scoring 7 goals and notching 9 assists. Eric Hassli (born 3 May 1981) is a French former professional footballer who played as a forward. Career Early career Hassli began his career at his hometown club Sarreguemines FC. In 2000 Hassli moved west to play for FC Metz. In 2002, he moved on loan to England to play for Southampton. He scored two goals in eight matches for Southampton's reserve side but made no appearances for their first team. Southampton decided not to sign Eric Hassli permanently and so he returned to Metz.
