Aligarh () is one of the 75 districts in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. This district is a part of Aligarh Division. The districts which adjoin Aligarh are (clockwise from north) Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Badaun, Kasganj, Hathras and Mathura. Kasganj District
Kasganj district (earlier called Kanshiram Nagar) is a district of the Indian state Uttar Pradesh. It is located in the division of Aligarh and consists of Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar tehsils. Its headquarters is at Kasganj. History The district lies in the cultural region of Braj. Kasganj was established on 17 April 2008 by separating Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar tehsils from Etah district. For a while, the district was named after a politician, Kanshi Ram. The decision taken by Mayawati, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and president of the BSP provoked protests by lawyers who had proposed to call it in honor of Sant Sant Tulsidas, who was born in the district, that place known as Soron (Sukarkshetra). Badaun District
Budaun district (; or Buaaun) is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state of India, with its headquarters in the town of Badaun. The district is part of the Bareilly division, and covers an area of . According to legend, Budaun was named after the Ahir prince Budh. History After the British takeover in 1801, the area was part of Moradabad district, and parts were transferred to Bareilly district in 1805. In October 1823, the district was created out of areas previously in both Moradabad and Bareilly districts, and it was originally called Sahaswan district after its headquarters of Sahaswan. The headquarters was moved to Budaun in 1838. Sambhal District
Sambhal district, previously called as Bhimnagar district is a district of Uttar Pradesh state in India. The district headquarter is Bahjoi town. A large of 993 villages with 16 police stations fall under Sambhal district. History The district was announced on 28 September 2011 and created by the state government out of Moradabad district on 23 July 2012 as one of three new districts in the state. At the time of its creation, the state government decided to name the new district "Bhimnagar" in honour of the social reformer, Bhimrao Ambedkar. However, massive protests broke out in Sambhal town and the adjoining rural areas against the move to rename to the ancient town.
