Alice (American TV Series)
''Alice'' is an American sitcom television series that aired on CBS from August 31, 1976, to March 19, 1985. The series is based on director Martin Scorsese's 1974 film ''Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore''. The show stars Linda Lavin in the title role, a widow who moves with her young son to start life over again and finds a job working at a roadside diner in Phoenix, Arizona. Most of the episodes revolve around events at Mel's Diner, where Alice is employed. With more than 200 episodes over nine seasons, ''Alice'' was the longest-running American television sitcom to feature a woman in the starring role until it was surpassed by ''Roseanne'' in 1996. Rue McClanahan
Eddi-Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 – June 3, 2010) was an American actress. She was best known for her roles on television sitcoms, including Maude (TV series)#Characters, Vivian Cavender Harmon on ''Maude (TV series), Maude'' (1972–78), ''Mama's Family#Cast, Aunt Fran Crowley'' on ''Mama's Family'' (1983–84), and Blanche Devereaux on ''The Golden Girls'' (1985–92), and its spin-off series ''The Golden Palace'' (1992–93). McClanahan won an Emmy Award for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series in 1987 for her role in ''The Golden Girls'', out of four total nominations. Gregory Walcott
Gregory Walcott (born Bernard Wasdon Mattox, January 13, 1928 – March 20, 2015) was an American film and television actor. Although he appeared in over 100 films and television series, he is perhaps best known for his leading role in the 1957 film ''Plan 9 from Outer Space,'' directed by Ed Wood.Rudolph Grey, Nightmare of Ecstasy: The Life and Art of Edward D. Linda Lavin
Linda Lavin (; October 15, 1937 – December 29, 2024) was an American actress and singer. Known for her roles on stage and screen, she received several awards including three Drama Desk Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, two Obie Awards, and a Tony Award, as well as nominations for a Daytime Emmy Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. She was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame in 2010. After acting as a child, Lavin joined the Compass Players in the late 1950s.
