Alfian Sa'at
Alfian bin Sa'at (born 18 July 1977), better known as Alfian Sa'at, is a Singaporean playwright, poet, and writer. He is known for penning a body of English- and Malay-language plays, poems, and prose exploring race, sexuality, and politics, topics considered provocative in Singapore. Alfian has also translated Malay-language novels by Malay Singaporean writers to English. Alfian has received a number of national literature awards, such as the 2001 Young Artist Award and three ''Life!'' Theatre Awards for Best Original Script. Tampines Primary School
This is a list of primary schools in Singapore. Children typically start their primary education in the year they turn seven. Primary education lasts six years, and is compulsory for all Singapore citizens. Primary schools in Singapore are either classified as Government or Government-aided schools. Primary schools are typically mixed-sex, though there are a number of single-sex schools. Some primary schools are affiliated with a secondary school, and such schools have a lower requirement for students from the primary section to enter the affiliated secondary school. At the end of the six years in primary school, students sit for the PSLE examination. Some primary schools are designated as Special Assistance Plan schools by the Ministry of Education. These schools place a special emphasis on the learning of the Chinese language and culture. Michael Chiang
Michael Chiang (born 27 October 1955 in Muar (town), Muar, Malaysia) is a prolific playwright and screenwriter in Singapore. He is known as "Singapore's most famous and successful playwright". From 1990 to 2009, Chiang was the editorial director of Mediacorp Publishing, which publishes ''8 Days (magazine), 8 Days''. Goh Poh Seng
Goh Poh Seng ( zh, c=吴宝星, t=吳寶星, p=Wú Bǎo Xīng; July 1936 – 10 January 2010) was a Singaporean dramatist, novelist, doctor and poet, was born in Kuala Lumpur, British Malaya in 1936. He was educated at Victoria Institution in Kuala Lumpur, received his medical degree from University College Dublin, and practised medicine in Singapore for twenty-five years. Writing career His writing blossomed in Ireland, where he met writers Patrick Kavanagh and Brendan Behan, published his poetry in the university magazine, and took a year off school to write. The Necessary Stage
The Necessary Stage (TNS, previously known as M1 Theatre Connect and M1 Youth Connection) is a Singaporean non-profit theatre company with charity status. Formed in 1987 by Alvin Tan, TNS was established with its own mission to create challenging, indigenous and innovative theatre that touches the heart and mind. TNS is a recipient of the National Arts Council's Major Grant FY2014-2016, and is also the organiser of the annual M1 Singapore Fringe Festival. Haresh Sharma
Haresh Sharma (born 1965) is a Malaysian born naturalised Singaporean playwright. He has written more than 100 plays staged around the world. Sharma has a BA from the National University of Singapore as well as an MA in Playwriting from the University of Birmingham, obtained in 1994 on a Shell-NAC Scholarship. Sharma has also been awarded fellowships and grants by the British Council and the United States Information Service, and was conferred the Young Artist Award in 1997. His play, ''Still Building'', was awarded a Merit Singapore Literature Prize in 1993 while ''Off Centre'' was selected by the Ministry of Education as a Literature text for 'N’ and 'O’ levels, and republished by The Necessary Stage in 2006.
