Alexander Moon (Botanist)
Alexander Moon (born 6 September 1996) is an English professional rugby union player who plays as a lock for Top 14 side Bayonne, having departed Northampton Saints after their Premiership-winning 2023-24 season. Background Moon began playing rugby during his time at St Joseph's College, Ipswich where he studied from age five to fifteen. He earned a three-year scholarship to Sedbergh School to complete his A Levels and further his rugby development. Moon comes from a strong rugby family with his father, Jon, coaching Ipswich rugby club and aunt, Vickie, a former physiotherapist for Leeds Rhinos and Yorkshire Carnegie. His uncle played for the rugby league side, Bradford Bulls. The Bradford Bulls are a professional rugby league club in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, and compete in the Championship, the second tier of British rugby league. The 2018–19 Premiership Rugby Cup was the 47th season of England's national rugby union cup competition and the first under the new Premiership Rugby Cup format following the disbanding of the Anglo-Welsh Cup at the end of the 2017–18 season due to the withdrawal of the Welsh Pro14 regions. Premiership Rugby Shield
The Premiership Rugby Shield was launched in 2003 as the Premiership Rugby A League. It runs parallel to the Premiership Rugby seasons. Split into north and south pools, it comprises twelve sides. The clubs select players from their academy and first team squads to make up their A League teams. This gives both young and experienced players the opportunity to play competitive rugby week in week out. Players from feeder clubs are allowed to play under dual registration for additional development benefit. Despite Bristol Bears having played in the Championship for several seasons since 2003. Bristol United have been included in the Shield since its inception regardless of league status. Teams play each of the other teams in their pool both home and away. Gloucester Rugby are a professional rugby union club based in the West Country city of Gloucester, England. They play in Premiership Rugby, England's top division of rugby.
