Alexander Keith (politician)
Alexander Keith (5 October 1795 – 14 December 1873) was a Canadian businessman, politician, Freemasonry, Freemason and founder of Alexander Keith's Brewery. Business After learning the brewing trade from his uncle in Northern England, Keith emigrated to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1817 and became manager at a brewery, which he bought out in 1820. In 1822, he moved the brewery to larger facilities and, in 1836, built a new brewery. The end of slavery in the British and French Caribbean reduced the availability of sugar for rum-making, and other beverages grew in popularity. Beverages brewed by Keith included spruce beer, porter (beer), porter, ginger wine, and strong ale. The brewery is now part of Anheuser-Busch InBev. Alexander Keith (minister)
Alexander Keith (13 November 1791 – 8 February 1880) was a Church of Scotland and Free Church minister, known for his writings on biblical prophecy. Keith interpreted the bible as teaching a premillennial view of Jesus' return and many of his books relate to the place of the Jews and how they relate to Jewish and Christian prophecies in the Bible. Keith, along with Robert Murray M'Cheyne, Andrew Bonar, and Alexander Black visited Palestine on a missionary trip. Taking a faster route home than their other companions Black and Keith passed through Budapest. Keith contracted cholera and nearly died but was influential in setting up a mission to the Jews in Hungary. At the Disruption, Keith sided with the Free Church and continued to minister to a congregation at St Cyrus and to publish works on biblical prophecy. Alexander MacDonald "Sandy" Keith (November 22, 1928 – October 3, 2020) was an American politician and jurist who was the first person to hold office in each of the three branches of Minnesota state government, serving as state senator, the 37th Lieutenant Governor, and as an associate justice and later chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court. Early life Keith was born in Rochester, Minnesota, to Norman M. Keith and Edna (Alexander) Keith. His father was a physician who practiced medicine at the Mayo Clinic. He married Marion E. Sanford on April 29, 1955. Keith graduated ''magna cum laude'' from Amherst College in 1950, and from Yale Law School in 1953. He then served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. Keith's Chapel, also known as Mr Keith's Chapel and the May Fair Chapel, was a private chapel in Curzon Street, Mayfair, Westminster, operated by the 18th century Church of England clergyman Alexander Keith. Alexander Keith Of Dunnottar
Sir Alexander Keith of Dunnottar and Ravelston (1736–1819) was an 18th and 19th century Scottish landowner, lawyer and reformer. A co-founder of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, its Keith Medal is named in his honour. Life He was born on 30 September 1736. He was the eldest son of Johanna (née Swinton) and Alexander Keith of Ravelston and Dunnottar (1705-1792), Depute Clerk of Session. The family owned both Dunnottar Castle in northern Scotland and Ravelston House, just west of Edinburgh (fragments of which survive and are called Old Ravelston House). His grandfather, also Alexander Keith, had acquired the latter estate from John Foulis of Ravelston via Archibald Primrose of Dunipace in 1726. The Dunnotar estate was purchased in 1766. Alexander Keith's is a brewery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev. The brewery was founded in 1820 by Alexander Keith who had immigrated from Scotland three years previously. In 1928, the business was sold to Oland Brewery, which was in turn sold to the Labatt Brewing Company. Following a number of mergers and acquisitions, Labatt's is now part of Anheuser-Busch InBev. Since 1928, parent companies kept the brand alive, and by the 1990s Alexander Keith's India Pale Ale (IPA) was the most popular beer in Nova Scotia. A number of other styles is also marketed. Although Alexander Keith products were originally produced in the Halifax brewery only for sale in the Maritimes, they are now produced at Anheuser-Busch InBev plants across Canada and America.
