Alexander Edwards
Alexander Edwards VC (4 November 1885 – 24 March 1918) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for valour in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Life Edwards was born in Stotfield, Lossiemouth, Morayshire, the son of a fisherman, and became a cooper working in the herring fishery. On 1 September 1914 he joined the 6th (Morayshire) Battalion, the Seaforth Highlanders, a part of the 51st (Highland) Division. After training in Bedford, the battalion travelled to France in May 1915. VC action Edwards, now a sergeant, demonstrated tremendous bravery and was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions at the Battle of Pilckem Ridge on 31 July 1917 on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele. The ''London Gazette'' of 14 September 1917 recorded: Returning to Britain, Edwards received his Victoria Cross from King George V at Buckingham Palace on 26 September 1917. Alexander Edwards (politician)
Alexander McKay Edwards (7 April 1876 – 3 June 1938) was a Canadian businessman and politician. Edwards was a Conservative member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Bothwell, Ontario and became a manufacturer and pharmacist. The son of Charles Edwards and Annie McKay, Edwards attended the Ontario College of Pharmacy. Besides his work as a pharmacist, he also was president of Galt Stove and Furnace. In 1905, he married Laura Clare. He was an alderman for Galt for eight years, and mayor of the municipality in 1916 and 1917. Edwards was first elected to Parliament at the Waterloo South riding in the 1925 general election then re-elected in 1926, 1930 and 1935. Alex Edwards
Alex Edwards (born 2 August 1975) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played for Sussex County Cricket Club, Sussex, Middlesex County Cricket Club, Middlesex CB and Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Derbyshire between 1994 and 2001. Edwards also had two Youth Test matches against Indian cricket team, India Under-19s, played his first match for Sussex, in the Second Eleven Championship in 1992, he played in his debut County Championship game in 1997, and was to appear for Sussex until 1999. He also played in one match for Middlesex. In 2001, he played for Derbyshire County Cricket Club. He now plays regular club cricket for Wisbrough Green CC in the Sussex county 3 division.
