Alex McAleer
Alex McAleer is a British mentalist who has toured extensively throughout the UK and North America with the ensemble illusion show Champions of Magic. He has made numerous television appearances including NBC's Access Hollywood, ITV's Good Morning Britain, and the world's longest running children's television program Blue Peter earning himself a Blue Peter badge. Career McAleer started his professional career in 2007 after receiving a business startup loan form The Prince's Trust. Before that he had been studying Art & Design at Suffolk College but dropped out to pursue a career in magic. In 2014 McAleer took his one-man show "Alex the Mind Reader" to Edinburgh Festival Fringe as part of the Free Fringe. Mentalism
Mentalism is a performing art in which its practitioners, known as mentalists, appear to demonstrate highly developed mental or intuitive abilities. Performances may appear to include hypnosis, telepathy, clairvoyance, divination, precognition, psychokinesis, mediumship, mind control, memory feats, deduction, and rapid mathematics. Mentalists perform a theatrical act that includes special effects that may appear to employ psychic or supernatural forces but that are actually achieved by "ordinary conjuring means", natural human abilities (i.e. reading body language, refined intuition, subliminal communication, emotional intelligence), and an in-depth understanding of key principles from human psychology or other behavioral sciences. Champions Of Magic
Champions of Magic is a touring illusion show featuring a cast of five magicians, each specializing in a different type of magic from mind reading & close-up to stage filling grand illusions. History Champions of Magic opened in the UK in October 2013 at Reading Hexagon Theatre and has since completed 6 UK tours and a run in London. The show completed a US tour in 2017 which was extended due to demand, concluding in March 2018. This included an extended run at the Palace Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. ''Blue Peter'' is a British children's television entertainment programme created by John Hunter Blair. It is the longest-running children's TV show in the world, having been broadcast since October 1958. It was broadcast primarily from BBC Television Centre in London until September 2011, when the programme moved to dock10 studios at MediaCityUK in Salford, Greater Manchester. It is currently shown live on the CBBC television channel on Fridays at 5pm. The show is also repeated on Saturdays at 11:30am, Sundays at 9:00am and a BSL version is shown on Tuesdays at 2:00pm. Blue Peter Badge
A ''Blue Peter'' badge is an award for ''Blue Peter'' viewers, given by the BBC children's television programme for those appearing on the show, or in recognition of achievement. They are awarded to children aged 6 to 15, or to adults who have been guests on the programme. Adults can also get a Gold badge if they have done something extraordinary. Approximately 22,000 are distributed annually. The pin badges were introduced to the programme by editor Biddy Baxter in 1963, from an idea by ''Blue Peter'' producer Edward Barnes. The design, a shield containing the Blue Peter ship logo, was designed by Tony Hart. The Prince's Trust
The Prince's Trust ( cy, Ymddiriedolaeth y Tywysog) is a charity in the United Kingdom founded in 1976 by King Charles III (then Prince of Wales) to help vulnerable young people get their lives on track. It supports 11-to-30-year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by the trust face issues such as homelessness, mental health problems, or trouble with the law. Free Fringe
The Free Fringe (also known as PBH's Free Fringe, after its founder, Peter Buckley Hill) is an organisation that promotes free shows during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world's largest arts festival, every August. Unlike most event promoters at the Fringe, the Free Fringe does not charge performers for use of performance spaces, on the condition that they do not charge an entry fee into their shows. Audience members are, however, asked to make a donation at the end of a show. This business model has been cited as an important development in the Fringe's culture and infrastructure, and has been credited with restoring the "idealistic spirit of the Fringe".
