Alberto De Simoni
Alberto de Simoni (3 June 1740 - 31 January 1822) was an Italians, Italian lawyer and jurist. Biography Born in Bormio, in the Valtellina, near the border of Switzerland and Lombardy to a family of some means, with a physician father. he began his studies with the Jesuits in Bormio, and then moved to study rhetoric and philosophy the Jesuit college at the Brera Academy of Milan. Seeking to study law in the Hapsburg-ruled Lombardy, he attended first the law faculty of Innsbruck; then after two years he passed to the University of Salzburg, returning in 1762 to his native Bormio. He married and settled to practice law. In 1763, he assumed the defense of a certain Gabriele Mesmer, accused of simple theft, but facing the death penalty. This prompted Alberto to examine local legal tradition. he gained a local position as a judge, first in Bormio, then Tirano, and in 1773 in Morbegno. Karl Joseph Von Firmian
Karl Joseph von Firmian (15 August 1716, in Trento – 20 July 1782, in Milan) was an Austrian noble, who served as Plenipotentiary of Lombardy to the Austrio-Hungarian Empire. His proper name was Karl Gotthard von Firmian, and in Italy known as Carlo Giuseppe di Firmian. He was the nephew of Leopold Anton von Firmian. He was also related to Leopold Maximilian von Firmian (1760-1831), Archbishop of Vienna. He was raised and educated in the Abbey School of Ettal in Bavaria, then in Innsbruck and Salzburg. He attended university in Leiden and well traveled through France and Italy. The aristocrat was recruited in 1753 by Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor as ambassador to Naples. Three years later, he was named plenipotentiary minister to Lombardy, and served for many years. He is remembered as an avid promoter of the arts and sciences, patronizing both the artists Johann Joachim Winckelmann and Angelica Kauffman. Francesco Melzi d'Eril, Duke of Lodi, Count of Magenta (6 March 1753 – 16 January 1816) was an Italian politician and patriot, serving as vice-president of the Napoleonic Italian Republic (1802–1805). He was a consistent supporter of the Italian unification ideals that would lead to the Italian Risorgimento shortly after his death. Morbegno
Morbegno (; lmo, Mürbegn ; german: Morbend) is a little town in the low Valtellina Valley in Italy, on the left side of the Adda river. It is part of the province of Sondrio of Lombardy. In 2007, it started a project to become a leader in sustainability, by involving the population in a participatory design process, presently labelled "Morbegno 2020". Morbegno is partnering with the international non-profit organization The Natural Step to design a vision of what the people living in Morbegno want to create in the long term, and choose the strategic path to move towards the vision from the present reality.
