The term refers to a stereotype describing something "tacky" ('), "cheesy" (') and/or being excessive. The Alay culture phenomena spans a wide array of styles in music, dress, and messaging. It has often been compared to that of the Jejemon phenomenon originating from the Philippines and Harajuku from Japan. Alay District
Alay () is a district of Osh Region in south-western Kyrgyzstan. The capital is Gülchö. The Alay District borders with China in the east, Tajikistan in the south, Chong-Alay District in the west, Nookat District in the north-west, Kara-Suu District and Özgön District in the north, and Kara-Kulja District in the north-east. Its area is , and its resident population was 87,398 in 2021. The Alay or Alai Range (; ) is a mountain range that extends from the Tien Shan mountain range in Kyrgyzstan west into Tajikistan. It is part of the Pamir-Alay mountain system. The Alai Valley is a broad, dry valley running east–west across most of southern Osh Region of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. Geography The valley spreads over a length of east–west. It has a width of in the west, in the central part, and in the east. The altitude of the valley ranges from near Karamyk to at the Taunmurun Pass with an average altitude of about . Alain "Alay" Soler (born October 9, 1979) is a former baseball pitcher who played in Major League Baseball for the New York Mets in . Soler attended high school at Espa Armani Arenado and played baseball for four years. He graduated from Nancy Uranga University with a physical education degree. Soler played baseball for his country in the World University Games in Cuba in and in Italy in . He also participated in the World Youth Games in 1996 and was a teammate of José Contreras on Pinar del Río in the Cuban National Series. He later played as a member of the Cuban national team. Josep Lluís Alay
Josep Lluís Alay i Rodríguez (born 1966) is a professor of Asian history at the University of Barcelona and chief of staff of Carles Puigdemont. He is the director of the Tibet and Central Asia Observatory and lecturer in Contemporary History of Tibet and Mongolia. He was the first Catalan writer to have translated a text written in Tibetan language and was responsible for the publication of ''Les poesies d’amor del sisè dalai-lama del Tibet'' (''The Love Poems of the Sixth Dalai Lama of Tibet''), of which he was the translator as well as author of the Prologue and Notes.
