Alaska (Between The Buried And Me Album)
''Alaska'' is the third studio album by American progressive metalcore band Between the Buried and Me. It was released on September 6, 2005 through Victory Records and is the first album to feature the band's current lineup, with the addition of Dustie Waring on guitar, Dan Briggs on bass, and Blake Richardson on drums. The band co-produced the album with Matthew Ellard, who produced the band's last album ''The Silent Circus'', and Jamie King, who had previously produced the band's self-titled album. The album was remixed and remastered in 2020. While ''Alaska'' did not sell as well as its predecessor ''The Silent Circus'' upon release, it still achieved high critical reviews and it includes some of the band's most notable songs, such as its title track and "Selkies: The Endless Obsession". Between the Buried and Me, often abbreviated as BTBAM, is an American progressive metalcore band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Formed in 2000, the band consists of Tommy Giles Rogers Jr. (lead vocals, keyboards), Paul Waggoner (guitar, backing vocals), Dan Briggs (bass, keyboards), and Blake Richardson (drums). Paul Waggoner
Paul Andrew Waggoner (born February 10, 1979) is an American musician who is the lead guitarist of progressive metalcore band Between the Buried and Me. A fan of progressive music, he is heavily inspired by John Petrucci, Pat Metheny, Allan Holdsworth and Steve Vai, amongst others. Despite his mostly metal and jazz influential background, he has also listed Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo as one of his first guitar idols, as well as Green Day. He also played guitar in the metalcore band Prayer for Cleansing, as well as live guitar, as needed, for Lamb of God between 2010 and 2014. ''Between the Buried and Me'' is the debut studio album by American progressive metalcore band Between the Buried and Me. It was produced by Jamie King and was released on April 30, 2002 through Lifeforce Records. Background Between the Buried and Me formed in 2000 in Raleigh, North Carolina after the demise of metalcore bands From Here On and Prayer for Cleansing, which Rogers, Waggoner, and Goodyear had been members of. Guitarist Nick Fletcher and bassist Jason King would subsequently join the band. In 2001, the band would record a demo featuring the songs "What We Have Become", "More of Myself to Kill" and "The Use of a Weapon"; these three songs would be re-recorded for ''Between the Buried and Me''. Blake Richardson (drummer)
Cartland Blake Richardson is the drummer for American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me, as well as the drummer for Glass Casket. Joining in early 2005, Richardson replaced Between the Buried and Me's former drummer Jason Roe. Biography Richardson attended middle school at Calvary Baptist Day School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He later attended Mt. Tabor High School and performed an annual drum solo for a school-club project named 'Spartan Spectacular'. Playing since he was 11 years old, he became an immediate fan of 1990s grunge music. Being inspired by bands such as Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins, his passion for heavy music grew as much as his love for drumming did. Dan Briggs (musician)
Daniel Hanford Briggs (born September 27, 1984) is a musician from Erie, Pennsylvania, best known for playing bass for the American progressive metal band Between the Buried and Me. In addition to his bass duties with Between the Buried and Me, he also plays bass for jazz fusion band Trioscapes and progressive rock band Nova Collective as well as both guitar and bass in the band Orbs. He is a vegan and straight edge. Dan uses Spector NS-5XL bass guitars with D'Addario EXL160-5 nickel wound strings, a Fender-reissued Sunn 300T amp and an Ampeg SVT-810E. Dan states that he chose a Spector over other bass guitars because he got it at the age of 16 and it was the "nicest bass in my price range."
