Alamgir Kabir (26 December 1938 – 20 January 1989) was a Bangladeshi film director and cultural activist. Three of his feature films are featured in the "Top 10 Bangladeshi Films" list by British Film Institute. Kabir was awarded Independence Day Award posthumously in 2010 for his contribution the to Bangladeshi culture. Early life and education Kabir was born on 26 December 1938 in Rangamati in the then British India. His parents originated from Banaripara Upazila of Barisal district, Barisal. He completed the matriculation in 1952 from Dhaka Collegiate School and the intermediate in 1954 from Dhaka College. After completion of bachelors from the University of Dhaka in physics, he went to England to study electrical engineering at Oxford University at the age of 22. Alamgir Kabir (born 1 January 1948) is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Naogaon-6 constituency. He also served as the state minister of Housing and Public Works and Women and Children Affairs. Career Kabir was elected to parliament from Naogaon-6 as a Bangladesh Nationalist Party candidate in 1991, 1996, 1996, and 2001.
