Al-Nasr Sports, Cultural and Social Club (Arabic: نادي النصر الرياضي، ثقافي إجتماعي), also spelled as Al Naser, is a Libyan basketball club based in Benghazi. Founded in 1956, the team has won the Libyan championship three times. Its most recent title was in 2018. Al-Nasr, which was previously funded by the family of Muammar Gaddafi, was featured in the 2013 memoir ''Qaddafi's Point Guard'' by Alex Owumi, who played for the team leading up to the Libyan Civil War in 2011. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court), while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. BAL Qualifying Tournaments
The Road to BAL, also known as the BAL Qualifying Tournaments, are the qualifying tournaments of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). While the main tournament is co-organised by FIBA and the NBA, the organization of the qualifiers is completely done by FIBA. The first qualifying rounds began on 16 October 2019 during the 2021 BAL qualification. 2021 BAL Qualification
The 2020 BAL Qualifying Tournaments were the inaugural qualifying tournaments of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the newly launched premier basketball league of Africa jointly organized by the NBA and FIBA. While the NBA will co-organise from the regular season, the qualifiers are completely organised by FIBA Africa. A total of 31 teams from 31 countries participate in the qualifying tournaments in order to determine which six teams will play in the 2020 BAL regular season, along with six directly placed six teams.
