Airports In Pakistan
Pakistan has a total of 69 airports, including three major hubs in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. Six additional medium-sized airports are located in Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Quetta, and Sukkur, while the remaining are classified as smaller airports. Most civil airports in Pakistan are operated by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority. However, Sialkot International Airport, owned by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stands out as Pakistan's first privately owned airport, also the first of its kind in South Asia, and is open to both domestic and international flights. Military airbases are primarily managed by the Pakistan Air Force, except for the Dhamial and Tarbela Army Aviation Airbases, which are under the Pakistan Army's jurisdiction and Faisal Airbase, karachi which is being managed in partnership with Pakistan Navy naval air airm. Jinnah International Airport () , formerly Drigh Road Airport or Karachi International Airport, is Pakistan's busiest international and domestic airport, and handled 7,267,582 passengers in 2017–2018. Located in Karachi, the largest city and commercial capital of Pakistan and capital of the province of Sindh, it is named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the statesman founder of Pakistan. New Gwadar International Airport
The Gwadar International Airport (GIA) is an airport in Gwadar, Pakistan. It is the largest airport in Pakistan by area, occupying 4,300 acres (17 km2) of land, and the second greenfield airport of Pakistan after Islamabad International Airport. The GIA is located in Gurandani, north-east of the old airport in Gwadar on the south-western Arabian Sea coast of Balochistan Province. GIA is expected to cost $246 million. It is mainly funded by China as a grant and was formally inaugurated on 14 October 2024 by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Premier of China Li Qiang. The airport replaced the Gwadar International Airport in January 20, 2025. With a runway spanning in length and in width, GIA is capable of accommodating the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8. Sheikh Zayed International Airport , also known as Rahim Yar Khan Airport, is located at Rahim Yar Khan, in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is named after Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who funded the construction of the airport and the road to his palace in Rahim Yar Khan. Gwadar (, ) is a Port, port city on the southwestern coast of the Administrative units of Pakistan, Pakistani province of Balochistan, Pakistan, Balochistan.
