The Airport Security Unit (ASU; zh, c=機場特警組) is the airport police of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) tasked with the security of the Hong Kong International Airport. History The ASU was originally formed in 1977 as the Special Action Squad on standby for security at Kai Tak Airport. In 1978 following a review it was renamed as the Airport Security Unit and commenced patrolling the airport. In 1998, the ASU moved to the Chek Lap Kok Airport. Duties ASU is responsible for airport security at primarily targeting terrorist situations such as aircraft hijacking, airport sabotage, irregular forces attack the airport, and so forth, but in urgent situations, is used as a backup force for situations outside of the airport. AETOS, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, is a security solutions provider based in Singapore. It was established in 2004 following the merger of three Auxiliary Police Forces. History Origins AETOS was established on 31 March 2004. Since its establishment, it has merged the Auxiliary Police Forces of CIAS, PSA Corporation, and ST Kinetics as a result of an amalgamation exercise initiated by Temasek Holdings.
