Airin Rachmi Diany
Airin Rachmi Diany (born 1976) is an Indonesian politician who served as the mayor of South Tangerang from 2011 to 2021. She is also the aunt of Banten lieutenant governor Andika Hazrumy. She has led several initiatives to combat recruitment of people in her city by radical fundamentalist groups, including interfaith forums, with the support of Indonesia's central government. She also commissioned a canal project in order to prevent flooding on the Jakarta–Serpong Toll Road in February 2017. Diany represented West Java at 1996 Puteri Indonesia. Diany placed as one of the Top 10 finalists. Diany also won the People's Choice Award as well as the Miss Indonesia Tourism award in that competition. Actress-turned-representative in the People's Representative Council, Nurul Arifin, pointed to Diany and Surabaya mayor Tri Rismaharini as her inspiration for running for mayor of Bandung. 2024 Banten Gubernatorial Election
The 2024 Banten gubernatorial election was held on 27 November 2024 as part of 2024 Indonesian local elections, nationwide local elections to elect the Governor of Banten, governor and vice governor of Banten for a five-year term. The previous elected governor, Wahidin Halim, did not run for a second term. The speaker of the , Andra Soni of the Gerindra Party, was elected governor with 55% of the vote. Rano Karno (born 8 October 1960) is an Indonesian actor and politician who has served as the vice governor of Jakarta since 20 February 2025. Previously, he served as Governor of Banten from 2014 to 2017. Ratu Atut Chosiyah
Ratu Atut Chosiyah (born 16 May 1962) is a former governor of Banten, Indonesia. She was suspended from office in 2014 because of a corruption case. She held office for several terms. Before her election as governor in 2006, she was the deputy governor under Djoko Munandar starting from 11 January 2002. Djoko was involved in a corruption case and was suspended from office in October 2005. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Ratu Atut as the acting governor to take over Djoko's administrative duties and she later became governor. She thus became the first female governor in Indonesia. In May 2014, she was formally charged by the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission for alleged corruption.
