Agusta
Agusta was an Italian helicopter manufacturer. It was based in Samarate, Northern Italy. The company was founded by Count Giovanni Agusta in 1923, who flew his first airplane in 1907. The MV Agusta motorcycle manufacturer began as an offshoot of the Agusta aviation company at the end of the Second World War, as a means to save the jobs of employees of the Agusta firm. In July 2000, Agusta merged with Westland Helicopters to form AgustaWestland S.p.A., a multinational helicopter design and manufacturing company, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica. History From 1952, the company became involved in helicopter manufacturing, first building Bell helicopters under licence, but later Sikorsky, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas products as well. AgustaWestland
AgustaWestland was an Anglo-Italian helicopter design and manufacturing company, which was a wholly owned subsidiary of Finmeccanica (now known as Leonardo). It was formed in July 2000 as an Anglo-Italian multinational company, when Finmeccanica and GKN merged their respective helicopter subsidiaries (Agusta and Westland Helicopters) to form AgustaWestland, with each holding a 50% share. Finmeccanica acquired GKN's stake in AgustaWestland in 2004. In 2016, AgustaWestland was merged into Leonardo S.p.A. (formerly Finmeccanica), where it became the company's helicopters division under the Leonardo Helicopters brand. Bell Agusta Aerospace Company (BAAC) was a joint venture formed in 1998 by Bell Helicopter and Agusta (now AgustaWestland), who collaborated on a variety of products dating back to 1952. The joint venture was dissolved in 2011, when AgustaWestland took full ownership of the project, renaming it as the AgustaWestland Tilt-Rotor Company (AWTRC). The partnership dates back to separate manufacturing and technology agreements with Agusta (Bell 47 and Bell 206) and as a sublicense via Agusta with Westland (Bell 47). MV Agusta (, full name: MV AGUSTA Motor S.p.A., original name: Meccanica Verghera Agusta or MV) is a motorcycle manufacturer founded by Count Domenico Agusta on 19 January 1945 as one of the branches of the Agusta aircraft company near Milan in Cascina Costa, Italy. The abbreviation MV stands for ''Meccanica'' (mechanics) ''Verghera'', the hamlet where the first MVs were made. Count Giovanni Agusta (1879 – 1927) came from family of Sicilian origin. He formed the Agusta company in 1923 which became part of AgustaWestland. He died in 1927. Rocky Agusta
Riccardo "Rocky" Agusta (21 October 1950 in Milan – 10 January 2018 St. Moritz) was an Italian race car driver and aristocrat. He was an heir to the Agusta and MV Agusta aviation and motorcycle firms, running the motorcycle racing team in the 1970s. He was responsible for funding the development of the Venturi 400 into a racing car, entering one for himself in the 1993 24 Hours of Le Mans and four cars in the 1994 24 Hours of Le Mans. He drove his own Callaway Corvettes in the BPR Global GT Series and the following FIA GT Championship in the 1990s. He returned for two races in 2004 with the Nash-Saleen team. He drove a Kremer K8 Spyder in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans, his last appearance in the race. He was also set to drive in the Le Mans Endurance Series for the Dallara-equipped Spinnaker team, but never raced. Ágústa Eva Erlendsdóttir (; born 28 July 1982) is an Icelandic actress and singer. The Agusta scandal (french: Affaire Agusta, nl, Agustaschandaal), alternatively known as the Agusta–Dassault Case, was a major political scandal which occurred in Belgium during the 1990s, based on allegations that two multinational companies had used bribery to secure large Military acquisition, defence procurement contracts. The companies in question, Agusta and Dassault Aviation, Dassault, bribed numerous political office-holders in 1988 in order to secure a large order of AgustaWestland AW109, Agusta A109 helicopters and the contract for re-fitting Belgian General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets respectively. The scandal came to light during investigations into the death of the socialist politician André Cools in 1991 and an official enquiry was opened in 1993.
