Africa Aerospace And Defence Expo
The African Aerospace and Defence Expo (AAD) is an aerospace and defence exhibition held every two years at AFB Waterkloof, in Centurion, South Africa, Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa. The exhibition combines a trade exhibition and an air show. The AAD began in 1975 when the South African based aviation magazine World Airnews determined that a professional aerospace exhibition was appropriate, as distinguished from the traveling "barnstorming" air shows that were then prominent. The first event was held October 1975 as "Aviation Africa", at Lanseria Airport near Johannesburg, South Africa under the sponsorship of the Commercial Aviation Association of Southern Africa. The same year, Lt. General Bob Rogers (SAAF officer), Bob Rogers of the South African Air Force instituted an open day at AFB Waterkloof, in Centurion, which eventually turned into the Defence Exhibition of South Africa (DEXSA). Mango Airlines South African company law#State-owned companies, SOC Ltd, trading as Mango, is a South African low-cost airline based at O. R. Tambo International Airport, and a subsidiary of South African Airways. Since July 2021, the airline had been grounded, as funding for its business rescue was subject to a dispute. However in August 2022, its license was suspended altogether. On 6 of June 2025, Mango announced it's come back via their flymango website that those who have unflown tickets can logo to their portal and claim them. This comes after a potential investor promised to join hands with Mango owners SAA. History Mango was launched on 30 October 2006, with bookings going on sale at midnight on the same date. Mango's first flight took place on 15 November 2006. Mango planned to join Star Alliance as a ''Connecting Partner'' in the third quarter of 2016, but the plan has been put on hold due to South African Airways' financial state.
