Aesop Rock
Ian Matthias Bavitz (born June 5, 1976), better known by his stage name Aesop Rock, is an American rapper and producer from Long Island, New York. He was at the forefront of the new wave of underground and alternative hip hop acts that emerged during the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was signed to El-P's Definitive Jux label until it went on hiatus in 2010. In a 2010 retrospective, betterPropaganda ranked him at number 19 at the ''Top 100 Artists of the Decade''. He released his first album, ''Music for Earthworms'', in 1997, with ''Float'' following three years later. ''Labor Days'', his third studio album, was released in September 2001. His next release came two years later, titled ''Bazooka Tooth'', released in September 2003. His fourth studio album, ''None Shall Pass'', was released in August 2007. Syosset, New York
Syosset (also known as Little East Woods or Locust Grove) is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Oyster Bay, in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 19,259 at the 2020 census. Syosset is served by the Syosset LIRR station, the Syosset Post Office, the Syosset Central School District, the Syosset Public Library, the Syosset Fire Department, and the Jericho Water District. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, Syosset has a total area of , all land. The Syosset CDP absorbed the hamlet and former CDP of Locust Grove for the 1990 census. ''Float'' is the second studio album by American hip hop artist Aesop Rock. It was released on Mush Records on September 5, 2000. Produced by Aesop Rock himself, Blockhead, and Omega One, it features guest appearances from Slug, Vast Aire, and Doseone. Critical reception Brad Mills of AllMusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5, calling it "surprising, analytical, darkness, mystery, lyricism, and jealous." Jon Caramanica of ''Spin'' gave the album a 7 out of 10, commenting that "Aesop's voice is a rich, flat bass cut with a thin growl; through its resonance, he's able to explore the variations within a timbre to access a vast emotional range." Thomas Quinlan of ''Exclaim!'' gave the album a mixed review, writing: "While there are no bad songs, the consistent similarity between all of the tracks in regards to drum samples and vocal sounds causes the album to have a bit of a tiresome feel as it nears its conclusion." Northport High School is a four-year secondary school in East Northport, New York, that serves as the high school for the Northport-East Northport Union Free School District which is composed of Northport, Eatons Neck, Asharoken and much of East Northport, all located in the Town of Huntington.
