Advisory Committee For Earth Observation
The Advisory Committee for Earth Observation (ACEO) is the senior advisory body to the European Space Agency, European Space Agency's (ESA's) Director of Earth Observation (EO) Programmes. The Advisory Committee acts as the representative of the Director General of the European Space Agency on all matters concerning Earth observation-based Earth Sciences in the Earth Observation Programmes of ESA. Role ACEO is the main interpreter of the views and needs of the European scientific community as regards access to space experimentation and EO data exploitation in the Earth science community. Private spaceflight is spaceflight or the development of spaceflight technology that is conducted and paid for by an entity other than a government agency. Florence Rabier
Florence Rabier (born 1971) is a French meteorologist who is Director-General of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. She works on Numerical Weather Prediction. She was appointed a Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2014. Early life and education Rabier joined Météo-France as an undergraduate engineer in meteorology from the École nationale de la météorologie. After completing her undergraduate she joined the Toulouse III - Paul Sabatier University, where she earned a master's degree in meteorology. Hartmut Graßl (born 18 March 1940) is a German climate scientist and a former director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. Born in Salzberg, near Berchtesgaden, Graßl studied physics and meteorology at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and earned his PhD in Munich in 1970. In 1981 he became professor of theoretical meteorology at the University of Kiel, and in 1984 he became director of the Institute of Physics at the GKSS Research Centre. In 1988 he became professor at the University of Hamburg and director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. He retired in 2005. Lennart Bengtsson (born ) is a Swedish meteorologist. His research interests include climate sensitivity, extreme events, climate variability and climate predictability. Career He was head of research at the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts from 1975 to 1981 and then director until 1990; then director of the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology in Hamburg. The Living Planet Programme (LPP) is a programme within the European Space Agency which is managed by the Earth Observation Programmes Directorate. A satellite or artificial satellite is an object intentionally placed into orbit in outer space. Except for passive satellites, most satellites have an electricity generation system for equipment on board, such as solar panels or radioisotope thermoelectric generators (RTGs). Satellite images (also Earth observation imagery, spaceborne photography, or simply satellite photo) are images of Earth collected by imaging satellites operated by governments and businesses around the world.
