Adams (1903 Automobile)
Adams was an automobile introduced manufactured by the Adams Manufacturing Co. Ltd. from 1903 to 1906. It was developed by H. Adams, of Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England, who offered a conversion set that converted horse-drawn carriages into motorized automobiles. The engine was mounted on a swivelling fore-carriage, and steering was achieved through wheel and vertical column. Tunbridge Wells
Royal Tunbridge Wells is a town in Kent, England, southeast of central London. It lies close to the border with East Sussex on the northern edge of the High Weald, whose sandstone geology is exemplified by the rock formation High Rocks. The town was a spa in the Restoration and a fashionable resort in the mid-1700s under Beau Nash when the Pantiles, and its chalybeate spring, attracted visitors who wished to take the waters. Though its popularity as a spa town waned with the advent of sea bathing, the town still derives much of its income from tourism. The town has a population of around 56,500, and is the administrative centre of Tunbridge Wells Borough and in the parliamentary constituency of Tunbridge Wells. Forecar
A Forecar is a body style of small sometimes three-wheeler vehicles that were produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Forecars were produced with three or four wheels and by companies which produced light cars or motorcycles. In this type of body, the passenger seat was placed in front of the engine. It was usually placed above the front axle, leaving the occupant extremely vulnerable in the case of a collision. The driver's seat was behind and usually higher than that for the passengers. The One of the Best was a British automobile built in 1905. A 9 hp light car, it was the product of a jack manufacturer named Adams from Tunbridge Wells who had previously made petrol engine conversions for horse-drawn vehicles.
