Adam's Apple
The Adam's apple is the protrusion in the neck formed by the angle of the thyroid cartilage surrounding the larynx, typically visible in men, less frequently in women. The prominence of the Adam's apple increases in some men as a secondary male sex characteristic during puberty. Structure The topographic structure which is externally visible and colloquially called the "Adam's apple" is caused by an anatomical structure of the thyroid cartilage called the laryngeal prominence or laryngeal protuberance protruding and forming a "bump" under the skin at the front of the throat. All human beings with a normal anatomy have a laryngeal protuberance of the thyroid cartilage. This prominence is typically larger and more externally noticeable in adult males. James Frawley
James Joseph Frawley (September 29, 1936 – January 22, 2019) was an American director and actor. He was a member of the Actors Studio since around 1961. He was best known for directing '' The Muppet Movie'' (1979), and '' The Monkees'' television series. Career Born in Houston, Texas, Frawley had a short-lived acting career, appearing in supporting roles in film and television from 1963 to 1966. A memorable appearance was the role of Hawaii District Attorney Alvarez in the 1965 '' Perry Mason'' episode "The Case of the Feather Cloak." In 1966, he was hired as a director for the new series '' The Monkees,'' he ended up directing half of the series 58 episodes. He began a career of over four decades as a director. ''Adam's Apples'' () is a 2005 Danish-language black comedy-drama film directed and written by Anders Thomas Jensen. The film revolves around the theme of the Book of Job. The main roles are played by Ulrich Thomsen and Mads Mikkelsen. Plot Neo-Nazi gang leader Adam is granted parole from prison for participating in a rehabilitation program, where he joins the aggressive Saudi gas station robber Khalid and the kleptomaniac rapist Gunnar. ''Adam's Apple'' is the tenth album by post-bop jazz artist Wayne Shorter. Recorded in 1966 and released in 1967, it included the first recording of his composition " Footprints", later recorded by the Miles Davis Quintet for the album '' Miles Smiles'' (1967). Shorter is featured with pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Joe Chambers. The CD release includes the Hancock composition "The Collector" (also known as " Teo's Bag") as a bonus track. Reception Writing in Jazz Journal, Mark Gardner urged readers, "For goodness sake don’t miss this one." Adam's Apple (1924 – 1946) was a British Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning a British Classic, the 2000 Guineas Stakes. Background Adam's Apple was sired by Pommern, the 1915 English Triple Crown champion. His dam Mount Whistle was a daughter of the Ascot Gold Cup winner William the Third. Racing career At age two, Adam's Apple won the Soltykoff Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse. He ran third in the 1926 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse and third again in the New Stakes at Ascot Racecourse behind Sickle and the winner, Damon.
