Abu Salim (actor)
Abu Salim (born 11 May 1956) is an Indian film actor, bodybuilder, and retired police officer, who works predominantly in the Malayalam cinema. He has also acted in a few Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. He has mostly played villain roles. Early life Abu Salim was born as the second son among six children to Kunhammed and Fathima at Kalpetta in Wayanad district. He had his primary education from S. K. M. J. High School, Kalpetta. Salim developed an interest in bodybuilding after being inspired by the work of actor and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger, whom he considers his role model. He has won several bodybuilding titles, including Mr. Calicut in 1981, Mr. Kerala in 1982, Mr. South India three times (in 1983, 1986, and 1987), and Mr. India twice (in 1984 and 1992). He served as a sub-inspector in the Kerala Police and retired in 2012. Salim has trained in some kalaripayattu and holds a black belt in shotokan-style karate. Abu Salim (comedian)
Salah Tizani (in Arabic صلاح تيزاني), full name Salaheddine Mohammad Ameen al Tizani (born 1927 in Tripoli, Lebanon) is a well-known Lebanese actor and comedian. He is best known for his character Abou Salim (in Arabic أبو سليم), the title character of a few long-running Lebanese comedy television series, where he portrayed the character of a funny, simple and conciliatory man trying to solve the rifts between the various characters in the series. The series were credited to "Abou Salim and his Troupe" (أبو سليم وفرقته) and included other memorable characters such as "Fehmen," played by Mahmoud Mabsout, "Asaad," played by Abdallah Homsi, "Shukri Shukrallah," played by Salah Sobh, and "Zaghloul," played by Fouad Hassan, all of whom were actors from the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli. Abu Salim Al-Ayyashi
Abu Salim 'Abd Allah ibn Mohammed ibn Abu Bakr al-'Ayyashi () (May 4, 1628December 13 or 18, 1679) was a well-known travel writer, poet, lawyer, and Sufi scholar from Morocco. Biography Abu Salim al-'Ayyashi was born on 4 May 1628 in the Berber tribe of ait Ayyash living in the Middle Moroccan Atlas. His father was the head of a zawiyya. Al-Ayyashi lived and studied in Fez and joined the Sufi order of the Nasiriyya in Tamegroute. He travelled three times to the Hejaz in 1649, 1653 and 1661 and stayed for long periods in Mecca, Medina, Jerusalem and Cairo. Irfan Bakti Abu Salim is a Malaysian football coach, currently coaching the Malaysia A1 Semi-Pro League club Kelantan Red Warrior FC. Playing career He had played with Kelantan FA and ATM FA in 1970s. He also was in the Malaysia squad for the 1976 AFC Asian Cup in Tehran, Iran. Coaching career Beginnings He spent most of his early coaching days as a coach with the Football Association of Malaysia in Wisma FAM. He first worked as a state coach with the Negri Sembilan team, and later joined Penang FA and TMFC respectively. Abu Salim prison () is a maximum security prison in Tripoli, Libya. The prison was notorious during the rule of Muammar Gaddafi for alleged mistreatment and human rights abuses, including a massacre in 1996 in which Human Rights Watch estimated that 1,270 prisoners were killed. In 2011, when the National Transitional Council invited investigators from CNN and other organizations, it found only what appeared to be animal bones at that site and announced further investigations. Construction The prison was built in 1984 by foreign workers in record time from imported, pre-fabricated concrete slabs. Each slab had a concrete hole in its middle, so that cranes could put the slabs in place. The holes were then filled with mortar, but inmates later managed to reopen the holes, hide the openings and communicate through them with each other. The Abu Salim Prison massacre took place in Abu Salim prison, Libya, on 29 June 1996, where an estimated 1,270 Libyan prisoners were killed. The massacre is considered to be one of the deadliest massacres carried out by the Gaddafi regime. Background A prisoner protest took place on June 28, 1996. Food rations had been drastically cut as a punishment after several inmates had escaped from the prison a few days earlier. The revolting prisoners captured two guards while they distributed food. One guard died, and the other guards opened fire, killing six prisoners and wounding about 20. Government negotiators, including Abdullah Senussi, then met with prisoner representatives who asked for improved conditions, care for the sick and trials.
