Abraham de Haen (6 April 1707 in Amsterdam – 8 August 1748 in Amsterdam), also known as Abraham de Haan, was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver known particularly for his drawings of castles and manors. He was also a painter and poet. Jan Maurits Quinkhard
Jan Maurits Quinkhard (28 January 1688 – 11 November 1772) was an 18th-century painter and print designer from the Dutch Republic. Biography Quinkhard was born in the town of Rees, near Cleves. He was a Dutch painter and scholar of his father, the painter Julius Quinkhardt the Elder, Arnold van Boonen, Christoffel Lubinietski, and Nikolaas Verkolje. He painted familiar, allegorical, and mythological subjects, and was excellent in portraits, of which he painted a great number. Five good examples are in the Amsterdam Museum. His son Julius (1736–1776) was instructed by his father, but abandoned art for commerce. Two pictures by him are in the Amsterdam Museum. The Leidsegracht () is a canal in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is a cross-canal in Amsterdam-Center that connects Herengracht, Keizersgracht, Prinsengracht and Lijnbaansgracht and flows into the Singelgracht at Marnixstraat. History The Leidsegracht was part of the Expansion of Amsterdam and marked the border between the first and the second phase of the construction of the Grachtengordel (canal belt). Between 1615 and 1658, the Leidsegracht was the southern boundary of the city. The canal got its name in 1658 and is named after the city of Leiden. Cornelis Lely (1854–1929), the hydraulic engineer, governor and minister who made the original plans for the reclamation of the Zuiderzee, was born on Leidsegracht no. 39. Pieter Langendijk (Haarlem, 25 July 1683 – Haarlem, 9 or 18 July 1756) was a damask weaver, city artist, dramatist, and poet. Life Pieter was the son of Arend Kort, a mason born in Langedijk. William IV (Willem Karel Hendrik Friso; 1 September 1711 – 22 October 1751) was Prince of Orange from birth and the first hereditary stadtholder of all the United Provinces of the Netherlands from 1747 until his death in 1751.
