Abitibi Power and Paper Company Limited was a forest products business based in Montreal, Quebec, that was founded in 1914. The firm was a mainstay of the Canadian newsprint industry in the first half of the 20th century. Between 1974 and 1979, Abitibi acquired the Price Company (formerly Price Brothers & Company), and in 1979 Abitibi changed its name to Abitibi-Price Inc. In 1997, Abitibi-Price merged with the Stone-Consolidated Corporation to form Abitibi-Consolidated. Abitibi-Consoldated merged in 2007 with Bowater to form AbitibiBowater, which changed its name in 2011 to Resolute Forest Products. William Price (merchant)
William Price (17 September 1789 – 14 March 1867) was a Quebec lumber merchant and manufacturer. Price was born at Hornsey, now in the London Borough of Haringey, England, to Richard Price and Mary Evans, a family that was originally from Wales in 1789. He studied law at the Inner Temple but found his way to Quebec in 1810 and served in the local militia during the War of 1812. Price took over a food supplier in 1815, and by 1820 formed the William Price Company as a produce shipping company and later into timber. William Price and his wife, Jane Stewart, had 14 children, seven daughters and seven sons, three of whom included William Evan Price, David Edward Price, and Evans John Price. The family resided at the Wolfesfield (or ''Wolfe's Field'') estate in Sillery, Quebec City, Sillery, which Price had purchased in 1828. Bathurst Power And Paper Company
Bathurst Power and Paper Company Limited, and from 1965 onwards Bathurst Paper Limited, was a combined logging, lumber mill and wood-pulp paper company that supplied its own electric power from Nepisiguit Grand Falls. Its operations were centred at Bathurst, New Brunswick. In 1967, the Consolidated Paper Corporation acquired Bathurst outright, and that year Consolidated changed its name to Consolidated-Bathurst Limited, while Bathurst Paper became a subsidiary. In 1988, Consolidated-Bathurst was acquired by the Stone Container Corporation, and that year, Bathurst was disestablished. In 1989, Consolidated-Bathurst merged with Stone to form Stone-Consolidated Inc. Iroquois Falls is a town in Northern Ontario, Canada, with a population of 4,418 at the Canada 2021 Census, 2021 census.
