The Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) are publishers' and literary awards held by the Australian Publishers Association (APA) annually in Australia since 2001. The awards celebrate "the achievements of authors and publishers in bringing Australian books to readers". Award recipients are first selected by an academy of more than 200 industry professionals, and then a shortlist and winners are chosen by judging panels. In 2025, ABIA is presenting 14 book awards, eight business awards, and the Lloyd O’Neil and Pixie O’Harris awards. Abia (mythology)
In Greek mythology, Abia (Ancient Greek: Ἀβία) served as the nursemaid of Hyllus, the son of Heracles and Deianira. In some translations, the child she nursed is referred to as Glenus. After the unsuccessful attempt of Heracles' son Hyllus to return to the Peloponnesus, Abia settled there. Mythology Abia was honored by the Heraclid Cresphontes for constructing a temple dedicated to Heracles in Ira. As a result, the town of Ira was renamed Abia in her honor. Abia was one of the seven cities promised by Agamemnon to Achilles in an effort to persuade him to rejoin the Trojan War. Eventually, Abia became a part of the Achaean League. In Pausanias' ''Description of Greece'' the origin of the city's name and the stories surrounding it is explained: as follows : "There is in our time a city Abia in Messenia on the coast, some twenty stades distant from the Choerius valley. Abia State
Abia is a state in the Southeastern region of Nigeria. The state's capital is Umuahia and its most populous city is Aba. Abia is bordered the west by Imo, east by Cross River, south by Rivers, northwest by Anambra and northeast by Enugu and Ebonyi. The state is divided between the Niger Delta swamp forests in the south and the Cross–Niger transition forests. The Imo and Aba Rivers flows along the state's western and southern borders respectively. The land for agriculture as well as the production of crude oil and natural gas ranks Abia as the joint-eighth highest Human Development Index in Nigeria since 2019. Abia State University Uturu (ABSU) is a Nigerian public university. It is one of the state-owned universities in Nigeria. These state academic institutions were created to expand admissions and bring professional skills, expertise and modern research facilities close to the city and rural dwellers, and have helped talented students to obtain higher education. The inception of the university was in 1981 in the former Imo State under the name of Imo State University, Etiti. The university was established by Sam Mbakwe when he was governor of old Imo State. Avia (, ) is a village and a former municipality in Messenia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality West Mani, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 179.828 km2. The seat of the municipality was in Kampos. Avia is a popular tourist destination. It also has a large olive production.
