Abhishek Nain
Abhishek Nain (born 15 August 1999) is an Indian field hockey player who plays as a forward. He is a part of the national team since 2022. Nain plays for Rarh Bengal Tigers in the Hockey India League. Early life Nain was born on 15 August 1999 in Sonipat to mother Soorat Devi and father Satnarayan Nain, who is a special police officer. He has an elder brother named Ashish. Nain first started playing the sport of hockey when he was in third grade. Career Nain made his international debut for in Feb 2022 at the 2021–22 Pro League. He was a part of the team that won the gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games. He was a part of the bronze medal winning team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Nain was also a part of the team that won the 2024 Asian Champions Trophy. He was the second most expensive player at Hockey India League auctions for the 2024–25 season. The Arjuna Award, officially known as Arjuna Awards given for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games, is the second-highest sporting honour of India, the highest being the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. The award is named after Arjuna, one of the characters of the Sanskrit epic ''Mahabharata'' of ancient India. In Hinduism, he has been seen as a symbol of hard work, dedication and concentration. 2024–25 Hockey India League
The 2024–25 Hockey India League, also known as the Hero Hockey India League for sponsorship reasons, was the sixth season of the Hockey India League. It was held from 28 December 2024 to 1 February 2025. The women's league was won by Odisha Warriors while the men's league was won by Rarh Bengal Tigers. In April 2024, Hockey India announced Big Bang Media Ventures as its commercial and marketing partner agency. The league had 8 men's and 4 women's league teams. Format Eight teams for the men's tournament and four teams for the women's tournament are placed in a group to play round-robin matches. The top four teams qualify for the knockout stage. 2021–22 Men's FIH Pro League
The 2021–22 Men's FIH Pro League was the third edition of the Men's FIH Pro League, a field hockey championship for men's national teams. The tournament started on 16 October 2021 and finished on 26 June 2022. Hockey India League is a professional field hockey league in India. It is organized by Hockey India, the governing body for the sport in India. It is considered one of the major sports leagues of the country. Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper.
