Aaron Connolly (Scottish Footballer)
Aaron Connolly (born 16 July 1991) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a striker and caretaker manager for East Kilbride Thistle. He has previously played in the Scottish Championship for Ayr United. Career Connolly came through the pro youth set-up at Ayr United and made his Scottish Football League Division One debut against Ross County in January 2010. He had a brief loan spell at Annan Athletic in late 2010 before joining Junior side Girvan for the rest of the season. Connolly went on to play for Cumnock Juniors, East Kilbride Thistle and Hurlford United. He joined Glenafton Athletic of the Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region, in August 2013. In July 2015 Connolly joined Lowland League side BSC Glasgow, signing a two-year contract. He left the club in December 2015, following the departure of manager Craig Young, and joined East Kilbride. Scottish Championship
The Scottish Championship, known as the cinch Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of the Scottish Professional Football League, the league competition for men's professional football clubs in Scotland. The Scottish Championship was established in July 2013, after the Scottish Professional Football League was formed by a merger of the Scottish Premier League and Scottish Football League. Format Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned league champion. If points are equal, the goal difference determines the winner. Lowland League
The Scottish Lowland Football League (SLFL, commonly known as the Lowland League) is a senior football league based in central and southern Scotland. The league sits at level 5 on the Scottish football league system, acting as a feeder to the Scottish Professional Football League, and is above three regional leagues at level 6. Founded in 2013, it is currently composed of 19 member clubs in a single division. Geographically, the league covers an area south of Dundee in the Lowlands area of Scotland. Since 2014-15, it has featured in the senior pyramid system. Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region
The Scottish Junior Football Association, West Region was one of three regions of the SJFA which organised its own distinct league and cup competitions. The SJFA used to be split into six regions, but in 2002 they took the decision to reform into three (East, North and West) to try to ensure more games between the top clubs and hence increase their revenues. The Scottish Junior Football Association (SJFA) is an affiliated national association of the Scottish Football Association and is the governing body for the junior grade of football (soccer), football in Scotland. The term "junior" refers to the level of football played, not the age of the players. The closest equivalent terminology would be non-League football in England, the difference being that junior football in Scotland was not similarly integrated into its Scottish football league system, football league system until 2021.
