Lothar Mendes
Lothar Mendes (19 May 1894 – 24 February 1974) was a German-born screenwriter and film director. His two best known films are ''Jew Süss (1934 film), Jew Süss'' (1934) and ''The Man Who Could Work Miracles'' (1936), both productions for British studios. Career Born in Berlin, Mendes began his career as an actor in Vienna and Berlin in Max Reinhardt's company. After directing his first two films in Berlin, he settled in the United States in the early 1920s and remained there until 1933, directing more than a dozen features, mostly frothy comedies, while under contract to Paramount Pictures, Paramount. Nora Lane
Nora Lane (September 12, 1905 – October 16, 1948) was an American film actress. She appeared in more than 80 films between 1927 and 1944. Lane was born in Chester, Illinois. She and her family moved to St. Louis when she was 10 years old. She attended schools there and worked there as a model in women's clothing shops. During a visit to Hollywood in 1925, meeting a casting director led to a screen test for her. The test resulted in work as an extra in films, then a bit part in ''Paris'' and a small part in ''Upstage''. Her first lead role was in '' Arizona Nights''. She committed suicide in 1948, one month after her husband died from a heart attack. She was 43. Frank Leigh (18 April 1876 – 9 May 1948) was a British stage and film actor.Goble p. 232 Biography Born Frank Leigh Valles in London in 1876, Leigh settled in Hollywood and became a leading man during the silent era. Following the introduction of sound, his roles were much less significant and all his roles after 1937 were uncredited.
